      The Town of Pomfret adopted the following ordinance at the Annual Town Meeting of May 19, 2022:  “Revised Ordinance Extending the Elected Term of Office for the Registrars of Voters”.  Said ordinance shall become effective June 11, 2022, or fifteen (15) days after its publication in a newspaper having a general circulation in the Town of Pomfret.
AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING
THE ELECTED TERM OF OFFICE
FOR THE REGISTRARS OF VOTERS
Be it ordained by the Town of Pomfret that a certain Ordinance ‘Extending the elected term of the office for the Town Clerk and Registrar of Voters’, adopted by the Town at a Special Town Meeting dated February 24, 1987, be revised as follows:
Be it ordained by the Town of Pomfret that, under Section 9-189a of the Connecticut General Statutes, the term of office of the Registrars of Voters has been extended from a two (2) year term to an elected term of four (4) years.

      The Town of Pomfret adopted the following ordinance at the Annual Town Meeting of May 19, 2022:  “An Ordinance Providing for the Appointment of the Town of Pomfret Town Clerk”.  Said ordinance shall become effective June 11, 2022, or fifteen (15) days after its publication in a newspaper having a general circulation in the Town of Pomfret.
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE
APPOINTMENT OF THE TOWN OF
POMFRET TOWN CLERK
Be it ordained by the Town of Pomfret:
Section 1: There shall be a Town Clerk for the Town of Pomfret who shall be appointed by the Board of Selectmen commencing with the term beginning November, 2025, or earlier upon a vacancy, as hereinafter described and in accordance with Connecticut General Statutes 9-185, as amended.  The Town Clerk shall serve as an at-will employee of the Town at the pleasure of the First Selectman in consultation with the Board of Selectmen.
Section 2: Any vacancy in the office of the Town Clerk shall be filled by the First Selectman in consultation with the Board of Selectmen after the occurrence of such vacancy.
Section 3: The First Selectman in consultation with the Board of Selectmen is authorized to establish, or cause to be established for its approval, qualifications and compensation (subject to approval by the Board of Finance and Annual Town Budget Meeting) for the office of the Town Clerk.
Section 4: Any incumbent of the office of the Town Clerk may be removed during their term by the First Selectman in consultation with the Board of Selectmen for just cause.
Section 5: The Town Clerk shall have all powers and duties conferred or imposed by law on Town Clerks and shall have such other duties as are assigned by the First Selectman.
Section 6: In accordance with C.G.S. 7-34b, the Town Clerk shall receive a salary in lieu of all fees and other compensation (subject to approval by the Board of Finance and Annual Town Budget Meeting), provided for in the Connecticut General Statutes, effective with the term beginning November,2025, or earlier upon a vacancy.

Section 5: The Town Treasurer shall be the Chief Financial Officer of the Town and shall report to the First Selectman and have such additional duties as may be prescribed from time to time by the First Selectman in consultation with the Board of Selectmen.  The Town Treasurer shall be chosen based on their administrative ability, character, knowledge, education, and experience and shall not serve on any regular Town Board or Commission or hold any other elective office within the Town of Pomfret and shall devote their full time to the duties of the office.

Legal Notice -- Town of Putnam
The Town of Putnam, Connecticut will receive sealed bids for “Route 12 Sidewalk Improvements” project until 2:00 p.m. local time on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the Municipal Complex, Room 101, which is located at 200 School Street, Putnam, Connecticut, after which no bids will be accepted and at which time and place the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.
All bids are to be plainly sealed and marked on the outside of the envelope: “Route 12 Sidewalk Improvements”. Work under this contract includes removal of existing sidewalks and curbing and construction of new Portland cement concrete sidewalks with monolithic curb and sidewalk ramps along portions of South Main Street and Grove Street between the intersections of Front Street and Killingly Avenue, in Putnam, Connecticut.

Memorial Day parade, program set
PUTNAM — The town’s Memorial Day observance will take place starting with a parade stepping off from Grove Street at 10 a.m. and ending with a memorial program at Rotary Park.  In case of inclement weather, notification will be on WINY 1350 AM the morning of the parade.
The parade will feature a lineup of marchers which will include town officials, a National Guard Unit, local veteran’s groups, VFW and American Legion Poppy queens, several civic and fraternal organizations and youth groups.
The 2022 American Legion and VFW Poppy Queen is Putnam High School senior Amayah Chavez. Patriotic music will be provided by local bands. The parade marshal will be Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, Michael Therrien, a  Desert Storm veteran who served four years in Iraq at Balad Air Force Base.
To accommodate older and disabled veterans who wish to be in the parade, transportation will be available by calling parade Chairman Buster Corey at (860) 382-6711.
Following the parade, a speaking ceremony will take place in Rotary Park.  The keynote address will be given by Vietnam veteran Richard Tremblay, U.S. Marine Corps.
The program will be led by Master of Ceremonies Lieutenant Commander U.S. Navy (retired) Roy Simmons. The VFW chaplain Tod Smith will be announcing the remembrance of deceased soldiers in the State of Connecticut during duty in 2021.
Following the ceremony, the VFW and American Legion will host a free picnic in Rotary Park. Refreshments include hot dogs, chips, and drinks for as long as they last. Chips are provided by Frito-Lay, Dayville.
Earlier in the week, local Veterans will place American flags at the graves of veterans interred in the St. Mary, Grove Street, Nancy Drive, Munyan Road, and Rt. 21 cemeteries. The flags will remain until Veterans Day in November.
The traditional wreath laying and military tributes at Putnam cemeteries, bridges and monuments will be conducted by a National Guard firing squad plus officers and color guards from the American Legion and VFW starting at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 29. The Putnam Police Department is providing security and escort services for all Memorial Day observance activities.
