GROTON —Charter  Oak Federal Credit Union has awarded $371,100 in annual $100 cash bonuses to its Gold Rewards members, which is the largest payout since the credit union created the member-appreciation program in 2010.
In total, Charter Oak has paid out more than $1.5 million in annual cash bonuses and ATM rebates to Gold Rewards members since the program’s inception.
“The size of this year’s cash bonus is indicative of both our financial success and our deep appreciation of our Gold Rewards members,” said Brian A. Orenstein, Charter Oak’s CEO. “Gold Rewards is our special way of rewarding, and thanking, our members who make Charter Oak their primary place to bank,” he said. “It’s also our way of saying ‘happy holidays’ to our Gold Rewards members.”
Charter Oak, which is eastern Connecticut’s largest credit union, established its unique Gold Rewards member-appreciation program in September 2010 to add value and financial rewards for those members with important account relationships. Gold Rewards offers a host of benefits, including the annual bonus, ATM rebates, special rates on deposits, and discounts on new personal loans and auto loans.

CorePlus pg 3 12-26-13

Warren P. Scholl, president and CEO of CorePlus Federal Credit Union, recently informed the Credit Union’s Board of Directors and staff of his plans to retire May 2, 2014, after a 36 year career dedicated to Credit Union service.
Scholl first joined CorePlus Federal Credit Union, then known as Norwich Pequot Teachers Federal Credit Union, on May, 1, 2000, as Executive Vice President.  Scholl was named President and CEO on July 1, 2001. Prior to coming to CorePlus, Scholl had served as an Executive Officer of other Credit Unions including stints as President/CEO of Member focused Cooperatives in Connecticut, Kansas, and Oklahoma.
Since joining CorePlus Federal Credit Union, Scholl has seen the organization transition from a limited service, limited member base Credit Union to a full service cooperative serving the entire community of Eastern Connecticut.  The cooperative now has with 10 “foot prints” in the region including the recent opening of two locations inside the Walmart Supercenter stores in Putnam and Brooklyn CT.  Other area locations include full service offices in East Lyme, Waterford, Groton, Taftville, Plainfield, an office inside the Wm. W. Backus Hospital, a “Loan Zone” office in the Backus Outpatient Care Center Plaza  and the Credit Union’s home office at 202 Salem Turnpike in Norwich.  During his tenure at CorePlus, the credit union has grown from $62 million in assets to more than $200 million, with more than 22,000 members in New London and Windham counties.
In his announcement to staff and members, Scholl said, he was  “very pleased to have served CorePlus for the last 14 years and is very proud of each of the volunteer members of the Board of Directors and Committee members” he has worked with.  Further, Scholl stated that he believed “Their gifts of time and talent have, indeed, been a blessing to me and to all CorePlus members.”
Scholl has long been active in a number of organizations outside the Credit Union including stints as a member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT and the Northeastern CT Chamber of Commerce.  He expects that a commitment to community service will continue into his retirement years.  In fact, Scholl is scheduled to become President of the Northeastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce in January 2014.
The CorePlus Board of Directors has begun the process of seeking candidates to replace Scholl as the Credit Union’s CEO.
