The Town of Putnam Zoning Commission will hold a hybrid meeting on June 21, 2023, at 7:00 P.M at the Municipal Complex in Community Room 201 located on the second floor.   A public hearing will be held on the following:

Docket # 2023-06 Town of Putnam Zoning Commission request to amend Section 605 Floodplain of the Town of Putnam Zoning Regulations. The Commission’s proposed amendment would consist of revised regulations from the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection necessary for the Flood Insurance Program for the Town of Putnam.  The proposed amendment can be viewed in the Building/Land Use office.

The Last Green Valley, Inc. (TLGV) is searching for 12 photos capturing the unique spirit of the National Heritage Corridor. The selected images will appear in the 2024 TLGV Calendar.
Each photograph must be in color digital format, sized to 10” wide x 8” tall (landscape orientation), and at least 300 dpi and be accompanied by a completed contest form. Photos that do not meet the criteria will be disqualified. There is a limit of three entries per person. Contest forms are available online at thelastgreenvalley.org. All submissions will become the property of TLGV. Submissions are due by email no later than noon on June 26. Send to This email address is being protected from spambots. Photos must capture the heart and soul of the natural, historic and cultural resources of The Last Green Valley. Entries depicting nocturnal animals, insects and plants will be given special consideration. Photos of people caring for and enjoying the National Heritage Corridor are welcomed but must include the subject’s permission to publish.
The TLGV Calendar is a full 8.5 by 11 inches, printed in color on high quality paper and will be available through the TLGV online shop, with all proceeds supporting the programs and projects of the National Heritage Corridor. The name of the photographer and title of the image is printed with each image.
The photographer who earns the cover will be featured in a press release about the calendar, in addition to receiving 10 copies of the 2022 TLGV Calendar. All other winners will get five copies of the calendar.

'Nuts'

PUTNAM --- Particle Accelerator, a free, all-day music festival, features music of all genres and for all ages will be held from noon to 8 p.m. at Rotary Park. In its 17th year, Particle is dedicated to the memory of the Legendary Jack Young Jr. and to raising awareness for suicide and depression and local resources available to help. Radio Field Day
THOMPSON --- The Eastern Connecticut Amateur Radio Association (ECARA) will be participating in the annual American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Field Day June 24 and 25. The last full weekend of June is a field day to test the capability of the nation's FCC-licensed Amateur Radio operators to set up and operate stations under simulated emergency conditions to practice and demonstrate their ability to communicate during potential disasters. It has evolved into more than that; becoming part operating event, part social activity and part contest to see which stations and clubs can make the most contacts over the 24-hour period. ECARA will operate from Gawron Farm on Gawron Road in Thompson, and the public is invited to tour, observe and even participate. For info: ECARA.net.
