 – HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT

Qualified self-starter wanted for Town of Pomfret Highway Department.  Must hold Class B CDL license/valid medical card and have a background in operating heavy equipment.
Position includes, but is not limited to, assignments on all municipal road work including snowplowing, landscaping, building maintenance, and any other duties as needed and assigned.  Five years of driving/equipment operation experience is preferred.
Must be available to work nights and weekends as needed, able to lift up to 100 pounds, possess mechanical aptitude in equipment repair, pass a DOT physical and drug screen, and consent to random drug/alcohol testing as required by the DOT.
Salary dependent upon qualifications and experience.  Attractive benefit package.

Savor the Flavor – Honey
coming Sunday, Sept. 8
PUTNAM — As part of a very full season of events, the Town of Putnam and Putnam Business Association are serving up “Savor The Flavor- Honey” from noon to 2 p.m. on Sept. 8 at local restaurants and cafés.
For a reservation for a wristband for “Savor the Flavor” go to discoverputnam.com and register online. The $20 fee per wristband includes samples at every participating establishment plus the ability to fill out a ballot that will select the top honey tastes.
You will also be helping local food pantry Daily Bread with its efforts to help local people with needed resources. A portion of each wristband purchased will be donated to Daily Bread. Savor the Flavor” has been helping Daily Bread for many years. Come and enjoy a “honeylicious” tour of Putnam as you sample savory and sweet treats on the streets. Atwater-Donnelly Duo to perform fund-raiser concert
THOMPSON — The renowned Atwater-Donnelly Duo featuring Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly, will grace the stage under a tent at Fort Hill Farms on Sept. 8 for a special concert benefiting the Thompson Congregational Church.
The concert will commence at 3 p.m. and the duo will perform two sets. Tickets are priced at $20 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under, and can be pre-ordered by calling Mary Buckley at 401-465-3388. While seating will be provided, patrons are welcome to bring their own portable chairs for added comfort. Refreshments and CDs will be available for purchase at the event.
