Head pg 3 3-7-13

WOODSTOCK — Headmaster Laura Gauld is leaving Hyde School in Woodstock. After seven years, she is returning to Hyde’s Maine campus where she will continue her role as executive director of Hyde’s Boarding Schools and will act as Head of School. This move will signal a return to Bath where she taught and served as an administrator for several years before assuming the reins as head of the Woodstock campus in 2006.
Bob Felt, a Hyde School and Springfield College graduate and 17-year veteran teacher, coach and administrator at both the Bath and Woodstock campuses, will replace Gauld as Head of School at Hyde-Woodstock beginning in June.
In anticipation of her return to Bath, Gauld said, “Being part of the growth of the ‘younger boarding campus’ has been exhilarating, and the seven years have flown by, similar to raising children.  I will continue to work to manage the opportunities and challenges of operating two boarding campuses with one philosophy.  Simply put, my ultimate goal will be to help guide the teams of both campuses to manage the uniqueness of each campus as well as work together in a unified manner to achieve our long-term goals of being the world class leader in family-based character education.”
Felt is uniquely qualified to lead Hyde –Woodstock in its next phase of growth. In a letter to the Hyde community, Bob expressed both his appreciation for Laura Gauld’s leadership over the past seven years as well as his excitement to help facilitate the future of Hyde, focusing on continuing to guide students to develop a “presence” and “self-confidence,” deliver a quality academic program, and support parents.
“Words cannot express how excited and honored I am to help lead Hyde School into the next phase of its growth,” said Felt in a letter to the Hyde community. “As a Hyde graduate from the Class of ’90, my life has come full circle thanks to the valuable character lessons I learned as a Hyde student, the life-long connections I developed with faculty, and the guidance and commitment of my own family.” Bob, his wife Brooke, and their two sons, Cooper and Eli live on the Woodstock campus.

PUTNAM — Day Kimball Hospital will celebrate National Patient Safety Awareness Week from March 3-9. This year’s theme, “Patient Safety 7/365: 7 Days of Recognition, 365 Days of Commitment to Safe Care” is an important part of Day Kimball’s philosophy in providing high-quality healthcare. The goal of this campaign is to recognize the advancements that have been made in the patient safety arena, while acknowledging the challenges that remain and committing to work on them every day. Healthcare providers form a partnership with their patients by encouraging them to participate in their own care.
