Knipe starts at Air
Force Academy
Lessons began Aug. 13 for members of the Class of 2018 at USAFA.  Among them was local teenager Jeremiah Knipe of Putnam.  Jeremiah, who was presented his appointment to the Academy during his recent high school graduation ceremony at Marianapolis Prep School, successfully completed a rigorous six-week basic training program. He was formally accepted into the Cadet Wing on Aug. 5.  
He is the son of  Janice Knipe of Putnam and John Knipe of Divide, Colo.

Metal pickup
PUTNAM — The Town of Putnam will have a metal and non-electronic appliance pick up during the week of Aug. 25.  
Residents should put metal and non-electronic appliances out at the edge of the road for pick up starting Aug. 25 through Aug. 29. Pick up will be done according to regular trash routes, same day as your regular curbside pick-up day. 
No stickers are required for metal and non-electronics pick up. Only metal items and non-electronics, example, refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, hot water tanks, stoves. Doors must be removed from refrigerators. 
TVs, computers, monitors, printers, laptops, cell phones, etc. are electronics and will not be picked up. Electronics are no longer picked up at curbside and must be brought to the Fox Road Highway Garage in E. Putnam, between 7:30 a.m and 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. 
Do not put out other bulky waste items such as, sofas, chairs, tables, etc. for the metal pick up. Those items go out with your regular trash pick-up with the appropriate stickers on them. Please see your Trash and Recycling flyer for more information or call 963-6818.

PUTNAM — Putnam Bank announced several recent promotions: Krishna Patel was promoted to Floating CSR Supervisor, Katie Kovacik to Senior Deposit Operations Clerk II, and Jessie Livernoche to Electronic Banking Specialist.
