The Town of Putnam Zoning Commission held a meeting on September 17, 2014, at 7:00 P.M. at the Town Hall located at 126 Church Street, Putnam, CT.  The following action was taken:
Docket # 2014-04:  Putnam Taxi, LLC — Request for text amendments to the Town of Putnam Zoning Regulations Article III, Section 304, Table III-1 Schedule of Uses and Districts to amend the Transportation Table. Article VIII, Definitions to add under M - Motor Vehicle in Livery Service under T -Taxicab or Taxi. Article IV,  Section 601 Table VI-1 Parking Schedule.  APPROVED WITH CONDITIONS
Docket # 2014-05:  Putnam Taxi, LLC — Request for a Special Permit of Exception to operate a taxi/livery dispatch office at 119 School Street, Town Assessor’s Map 015, Lot 013, Zoned R-7. APPROVED
Docket # 2014-06:  Green Valley Crossing, Inc. – Riley Prather, Pastor — Request for a Special Permit with associated waivers for the location of a gathering space and principal offices in order to facilitate worship services, educational groups, community events and other services within a normal scope as a church.  Property located at 95 Front Street, Town Assessor’s Map 15, Lot 30, Zoned General Commercial District (GC).  APPROVED

The Town of Putnam Zoning Board of Appeals held a meeting on September 16, 2014, at 7:00 P.M. at the Town Hall located at 126 Church Street, Putnam. CT.  The following action was taken:
Appeal # 2014-002: Yelena & Aleksey Maryanov — Request for a variance from the Town of Putnam Zoning Regulations, Section 730 “Schedule of Dimensional Regulations” for the reduction in side yard requirements from 20 – 5’ and reduction in front yard requirements from 25’ – 8’ for a proposed 22’ X 44’ addition.  Property located at 72 Woodstock Avenue West, Town Assessor’s Map 001, Lot 007. The October 2014 billing of water and / or sewer collections for the Town of Putnam WPCA is due and payable on November 1, 2014.
Payments made after November 1, 2014 will be subject to an Interest charge of 3% (1.5% per month) or $2.00 minimum whichever is higher, according to Connecticut State Statute SEC.

       Mail must be postmarked no later than November 1, 2014 to avoid interest charges.

Accident
PUTNAM — Sept. 22 the Putnam Police Department responded to a vehicle versus utility pole on Kennedy Drive near the commuter parking lot.
The vehicle, a Dodge pickup truck being operated by Starr Bouchard, 51,  of Moosup, was traveling northbound on Kennedy drive and drove off the right shoulder of the road striking a utility pole. 
 The operator was trapped in the vehicle with live wires on the vehicle.  C.L.&P. crews responded, made the scene safe, and the driver was removed from the vehicle.  She was transported by Putnam EMS to Day Kimball Hospital with minor injuries.
Putnam Fire Department and East Putnam Fire Department responded and assisted with the scene. The accident remains under investigation.

Challenge Accepted
After being challenged by Jewett City Savings Bank, The Citizens National Bank, headed by President and CEO David Conrad, accepted the challenge in a big way. Conrad, along with several bank employees and the bank’s mascot, Clicker, dumped buckets of ice water over their heads recently in the name of the charity. In addition to undertaking the challenge, the bank has donated $1,000 to MDA to help fight ALS. Courtesy photo.
