Redmen pg 10 9-17-15

By Ron P. Coderre
On the eve of the start of the 2015 high school football season, Killingly coach Chad Neal and Woodstock head mentor Clay Killingsworth announced the captains for their respective teams.
The Centaurs will be led by senior Cahan Quinn and junior Mason Defocy.  Quinn is one of seven seniors on the team.  He’s a 6-foot, 1-inch, 220- pound offensive lineman and linebacker on defense.  Quinn, who was a captain at Woodstock as a junior, is one of two Quinn brothers on the 51-man Woodstock roster.  His brother, junior Conor Quinn, an offensive and defensive lineman, checks in at 5-10 and 205 pounds.
Defocy, who scales in at 6-2, 183-pounds, is a wide receiver on offense and corner back on defense.
Killingly, which boasts a roster of 45 players is led by a dozen returning seniors.  The Redmen will be led by senior quad-captains this season.  Two of the leaders, Austin Caffrey and Matt Cavallo are serving as captains for the second successive season.  They are joined by Chace Wood and Justin Lasher.
Caffrey is a 5-8, 195-pound fullback and linebacker.  Cavallo is injured to start the season.  Wood is a wide receiver on offense and safety on defense.  He’s 5-9 and 170 pounds.  Lasher, who anchors the offensive line from his center position scales in at 6 feet and 210 pounds.  He’s a linebacker on defense.
Killingly and coach Neal enjoys the luxury of having seven assistant coaches, five of whom are former Redmen.  Gary Brine, Trevor Larrow, Chad Caffrey, Jack Weaver and Josh Fortin are all Killingly grads.  The other two assistants are Matt Summ and Kevin Marcoux.
Assisting coach Killingsworth at Woodstock are Will Fleeton, John Green, Henry Large and Rob Sadwick.

DKH pg 11 9-17-15

PUTNAM — Robert “Bob” Andrews of Pomfret has been selected as Employee of the Month at Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH) for August.
He joined the DKH team 13 years ago. Andrews is known among his coworkers as being friendly, level-headed, thoughtful and a problem-solver – an excellent set of characteristics for his role as safety manager for Day Kimball Hospital.
As safety manager, Andrews is responsible for the overall safety of the hospital facility, including emergency preparedness, hazardous materials management and the establishment and coordination of policies, procedures and programs to ensure the safety of the hospital environment.
Andrews supports local youth through involvement with Boy Scout troops.
In 2005 he and his wife Lisa were co-recipients of the annual Citizenship Award from NECASA (Northeast Communities Against Substance Abuse) for their work with youth in the community.
And he recognized the efforts of his wife Lisa, who is owner of Artique – a Paint Bar in Putnam, for volunteering to help DKH employees create four murals of northeastern Connecticut landmarks in the hospital this summer.
