Fun Runs
W. THOMPSON --- The West Thompson Dam Fun Run starts on May 15 and runs through Sept. 18. The runs, which start at 6:15 p.m., are held on Wednesdays at the West Thompson Dam Entrance on Ravenelle Road. Distance is 3.1 and 1.44 miles. The Fun Run or walk is free and is open to everyone. Fireworks
PUTNAM --- The town of Putnam will hold its fireworks and two concerts at Rotary Park. At 5 p.m. One Shot Deal will entertain and at 7 p.m. the Outriggers will play. Rain date July 7.

Storytelling
N. GROSVENORDALE --- Native American Storytelling With Phillip “Firewalker” Pollier will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Phelp's Pond on Main Street. Free. All welcome.

Senior Craft

Golf Tourney
FOSTER, R.I. --- The Arc Quinebaug Valley’s 26th Annual Gardner Johnson Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at Foster Country Club, starting with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.. Includes continental breakfast, a chance to win a new car, closest  to the pin contests, hot dogs on the turn, drawings and a steak dinner after the game. 774-2827.

EASTFORD --- The Congregational Church of Eastford will hold its annual summer Band Concert and Frog Jump. Frog registration is at 5:30 p.m. and the event begins at 6.

Car Cruise Frappes
PUTNAM --- The Congregational Church of Putnam, downtown, will hold a Putnam Car Cruise/Frappes on the Lawn starting at 11:30 a.m. until gone. $5. Benefits community charities.

Rubber Duckie
PUTNAM --- The Arc Quinebaug Valley will host its 16th Annual Arc Rubber Duckie Race fund-raiser at 1:30 at Rotary Park.  The race is in conjunction with the annual car show. The day includes children’s games, food, a moonbounce and other  activities. 7,000 rubber ducks are available.  Rain date Aug. 18. 774-2827.

Practice
The East Putnam Fire Department recently hosted an extrication class teaching members from East Putnam, Putnam and Community Fire departments  advanced and new extrication techniques with the “Jaws of Life.” The class was instructed by Shipman’s Fire Equipment. Some 30 students participated. Class work was held at East Putnam Fire Dept. with the hands-on extrication taking place at Ross’s, according to East Putnam Fire Chief Abram L. Walker.
