PUTNAM — NOW & Hale YMCA are holding a free town-wide Family Scavenger Hunt from 4:30 to 6 p.m. May 6. Register at www.NOWinMotion.org/events
Join NOW and Hale YMCA at 4:30 p.m. at the Hale YMCA Youth and Family Center (9 Technology Park Dr.) to pick up your clue kit, YMCA tote for treasure collection, and a quick warm up.
Families will then have the option to drive to Main Street in Putnam or walk from the YMCA on the Putnam River Trail.
The scavenger hunt takes place on Main Street in Putnam starting at 5. The street will be closed for the First Fridays event — this will also ensure safety for the scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt will consist of clues that will lead you and your family to a variety of local business and fun spots, where you will then collect a treasure.
Once you have completed your scavenger hunt, head to the NOW First Fridays booth that will be found on Main Street (exact location will be provided as we approach the event). All scavenger hunt finishers will receive a trophy.

Play Ball!
Opening Day for the Putnam Little League April 23 was a huge successful kickoff to the Little League season.
After a couple of slower years due to COVID, Putnam Little League’s numbers are back on the rise with just over 100 players registered this year for ages 4-12 years old.
The league has five Tee Ball teams, three Coach-Pitch Level teams, and three Minors Level teams.
The 12-year-old players are playing in Pomfret this year because Putnam was unable to field Major-Level Teams for the 2022 season.
With such great numbers at the Minors level this year, the Putnam league will be able to bring Majors back next spring.
The Putnam Little League thanked its many sponsors and all the volunteers and parents. The league’s schedule and information can be found on Facebook at “Putnam Little League - Connecticut District 12” or at putnamlittleleague.org
Moe Coderre was the guest of honor - singing the National Anthem, speaking to the kids/parents, and throwing out the “first pitch”. First pitch was caught by Wesley Schulman.  Master of Ceremonies was PLL President Sean Dempsey. Post-Event doughnuts were donated by Baker’s Dozen in Putnam. Erica Shulman photos.
