Because pg 2 6-9-22

I can honestly admit that I deeply dislike hanging things on walls. Do not misinterpret this statement to mean that I do not like having things on walls as this is not the case. I love looking at pictures and artwork on a wall.  I just abhor the process of putting them there. I am sure that this is true for one simple reason: I am not good at hanging things on walls. I can never seem to either get things centered, straight or secure. For example…
A few years ago, I decided that I would make our upstairs grandkids bonus room a Harry Potter theme.  In the stairwell leading up to the space, I decided to hang the Hogwarts House banners of Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff.
However, this simple task of hanging four lightweight cloth banners proved to be quite challenging for me. First, I tried using some wall-protecting putty. Despite my excessive use of the putty and very firm pressure in sticking the banner to the putty and the wall, they kept falling. Then I tried some Velcro tabs. Again, they kept falling. I replaced the Velcro tabs with back-to-back sticky tabs. This worked well for some of the banners but not all of them. Feeling frustrated, I decided to staple the banners to the wall. Since I had sticky cushions on each side of the wall and the banner, the staples have worked. They have not fallen since.
One time, when I tried to hang a wooden set of pictures in the entry way, I put them in a place that interfered with a sliding door. To fix it, I had to find a new spot for the hanging picture set. This resulted in a nail hole in my newly painted wall.
Given my lack of wall hanging skills and desire, whenever anything needs hanging, my husband takes care of it. He is always efficient and effective, resulting in a myriad of properly displayed photos and artwork on our walls. Recently, I finally decided to hang some of my canvas pictures I have been collecting over the past couple of years. Since I was going to hang them in a spot that would not be very visible to others, I figured I would be able to accomplish this task on my own. Despite buying a wall-safe adhesive which ensured that it could stick to almost any surface, apparently soft canvas is not one of them and the pictures fell down almost as immediately as I put them up.  I am currently considering if I should try another type of adhesive or perhaps even frame them so that I could use a nail. But come to think of it, I have been down this road before …

Partnership
between schools
extended 10 yrs.
WOODSTOCK — The Woodstock Academy and the Eastford Board of Education announced a 10-year agreement has been signed which designates The Academy as one of the official high schools for the Town of Eastford.
The Academy will furnish educational facilities, programs, and activities for grades nine through 12 for high school students living in the Town of Eastford.
“As an institution, we rely on partnerships and cherish sending town representation within our student body,” said Head of School Chris Sandford.
The sending town partnership with the Eastford Board of Education, in existence for more than 90 years, is the second-longest in Woodstock Academy history.
“We are very pleased to continue this long-standing positive relationship with The Woodstock Academy as the designated high school for our students. The Academy provides quality programming for our students and the staff is very responsive to their changing needs,” said Donna Leake, superintendent of Eastford Schools.
