Putnam pg 12 1-9-14

PUTNAM — Recently the state of Connecticut released its new school and district performance indexes and all three Putnam schools fared well, according to Superintendent of Schools William Hull.
Scores for both schools and districts are based on students’ performance on last spring’s CMT and CAPT.
All three schools in Putnam, as well as the district itself, fared well in this new accountability system. Schools are listed in six catalogues from the high of Excelling, followed by being labeled Progressing then to Transitioning and finally to schools for Review, Focus Schools and Turnaround schools.  All of Putnam’s schools were in the upper catalogues.  Putnam Elementary test scores earned it a Progressing label while Putnam Middle School and Putnam High School earned Transitioning labels.    None of Putnam’s schools were designated in the lower three catalogues of School in Review, Focus School or Turnaround School.
Hull said, “As a district we are pleased with the positive trajectory the indexes have shown.  The vast majority of the credit for Putnam’s improved status goes to our teachers and administrators, who have worked long and hard to ensure that students are learning in a safe and happy environment.  They are dedicated to ensuring all children are successful. It is great to see the positive results of their hard work.”
