Members of Shannon Labonte’s family met at the Putnam Public Library recently to make another generous donation in her memory. The funds were some of the proceeds from the recent Shannon Labonte Memorial Artisan and Craft Fair which was held on June 10. Library director Priscilla Colwell said: “Shannon was a very special person and frequent library customer who passed away in 2017. She was a preschool teacher at Country Kids Child Care in Putnam and had a heart for children and learning. Eagle Scout
Putnam resident and Quinebaug Valley Community College student, Emma Barbeau (2nd left) received her Eagle Scout Award June 17. Barbeau, who is a member of Troop 1066 of Thompson, was honored at the Troop home in N. Grosvenordale. More than 50 friends, family and fellow Scouts were in attendance. The American Legion Department of Connecticut and District #4 presented Barbeau with a number of citations. On hand for the ceremony representing The American Legion were, from left: Ronald P. Coderre, Past Post #13 Putnam and Past District #4 commander; Barbeau; Manuel “Manny” Rodrigues, Department Scouting Representative and Commander of Post #52 of Coventry; and John Whetten, District #4 Sgt.-at-Arms and member of Post #26 Stafford Springs.
