Recreation Director
The Town of Pomfret is seeking a Recreation Director. This position is full-time/35 hours and includes some nights and weekends. A current CT driver’s license is required.
Must be a motivated self-starter with strong organizational and interpersonal skills, requires a working knowledge of Microsoft computer systems, website/social media knowledge as well as general clerical duties.
The Recreation Director performs administrative, supervisory, and professional work in the planning, development, and operations of a comprehensive public recreation program for individuals of all ages and interests.
Successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in related field or five years of related experience, able to lift up to 50 pounds, and available to work a flexible schedule. Salary is negotiable. This position is open until filled.

Benefit show is Jan. 27
POMFRET — “The Red Hot Banjo Wizard,” Howie Bursen joined by Sally Rogers, Martin Grosswendt, Bennett and Lorraine Hammond return at 7 p.m. Jan. 27 to the Vanilla Bean Café for their 32nd year performing to benefit the Access Food Pantries: Site-Based and Mobile. Howie Bursen, who has coordinated and performed this event for 32 years, will also be joined by Sally Rogers, Martin Grosswendt with Bennett Hammond, and Lorraine Hammond.
Bursen said, “We hold this event to raise money for our Northeast Connecticut Emergency Food pantries at Access. Access helps feed our neighbors who don’t have enough money to buy food for themselves - or their children … the Food pantries can make the difference between hunger and health.”
All proceeds from this concert will be used to buy food from the Connecticut Food Bank. Each $25 donated to Access by purchasing a ticket will buy more than $250 worth of food from the CT Food Bank for distribution to those in need throughout northeast CT. Last year the concert raised more than $4,000.

Commemorative brick program
underway for park upgrades
PUTNAM --- Putnam's Veteran’s Advisory Committee is raising funds for improvements to the3 Veterans Memorial Park by selling commemorative bricks. As part of the reconstruction & beautification project in park on the corner of Church and Bridge streets, the committee is establishing an honor/memorial site consisting of engraved bricks recognizing the service of veterans of yesterday and today. 8” x 4” memorial bricks are a striking gray with black letters, with your choice of wording, and with or without a military logo of your choice.
