The public is hereby notified and warned that a Public Hearing will be held in the Putnam Middle School Auditorium, 35 Wicker Street, Putnam, CT on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 6:30 in the evening for purposes of discussing the potential purchase of real estate located at 70 May Street from the Providence and Worcester Railroad for a purchase price not to exceed $900,000 to be used for Putnam EMS, Emergency Management and other town services.

The Electors and Citizens qualified to vote in Town Meetings of the Town of Putnam, Connecticut, are hereby notified and warned that a Special Town Meeting of said Town will be held in the Putnam Middle School Auditorium, 35 Wicker Street, Putnam, CT on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 7:00 in the evening or immediately following the foregoing public hearing for the following purposes:

1.  To choose a moderator for said meeting.

2.  To determine the wishes of those present and eligible to vote at town meetings of the Town of Putnam with respect to negotiating and entering into a contract for the purchase of 70 May Street, Putnam, CT from the Providence and Worcester Railroad, with a purchase price not to exceed $900,000, for the intended use of Putnam EMS, Emergency Management and other Town services.

1. John Everett for Rectory School, 528 Pomfret Street, application for construction of a 10,254-sf addition to the existing Craig Schott Calhoun Gymnasium.  APPROVED with conditions.
2. Aaron Perry/Graphics Unlimited for Loretta and Mark Foisey, 15 Searles Road, replace existing sign with a new one in same location.  Property owners are replacing the existing legally nonconforming sign with a smaller one.  APPROVED.

PUTNAM --- “The Five Senses of Women” exhibit will run through Sept. 30 at the Corridor Gallery at the Putnam Municipal Complex. Free. It features a variety of mediums and techniques from five local artists: Lisa Andrews, Kathy Guertin, Carolyn Nadeau, Laura Moorehead, and Karen Reid. WOODSTOCK --- Roseland Cottage’s Twilight Lawn Concert at 6:30 p.m. will present the Flamingos, an all-female swing band. Rain date Aug. 2.  Grace Gourmet Food truck will be on site. Bring a pink flamingo or just dress in pink! Join us on the grounds of Roseland Cottage as we flock the Pink House! Anyone with a flamingo or dressed in predominantly pink clothes will be entered in a special drawing—must be present to win. Cosponsored by Historic New England and Woodstock Recreation. All concerts are free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket and picnic supper and continue the tradition begun by Henry Bowen, the builder of Roseland Cottage.

PUTNAM --- The Putnam Public Library and the Tri Gable Lea Farm will present “Master the Art of Preserving Your Harvest” from 6 to 7:30 Agricultural educator Mark Gostkiewicz will present info about pickling, canning, freezing and drying. PUTNAM --- The Putnam Business Association will present Pluck-a-Duck Aug. 11 and 12. This year there will be a Kid Corner from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 11 in Rotary Park. It will share space with the town's annual Main Street Car Cruise. The next day the ducks will be plucked from a secret location.

POMFRET --- Windham-Tolland 4-H Camp is having a Birthday Party to celebrate 70 years of camp from noon to 5 p.m. noon to 1:30 BBQ lunch, Recognition Awards and Dessert. 3 to 5 p.m. program areas will be open to those who register to participate.. sale a success
POMFRET — The Pomfret Proprietors hosted another successful Town Wide Tag Sale May 6 and pulled in $2,300 which was donated to TEEG, The Three C’s and a new program in town, ACE: Active Community Engagement Advantage Summer Program. The donation is the largest since the program began.
Some 42 tag sale hosts and generous map sponsors took part.
