WOODSTOCK — Woodstock Academy announces the purchase of a 23-acre parcel of land adjacent to its campus.
The purchase of the Arvidson land comes after a Board of Trustees meeting where a unanimous vote approved the transaction.
The purchase price was $800,000
With the addition of this land, the Academy will now have a total of 30 acres. “This is a once in a century land purchase that will set up the Academy for the next 200-300 years,” said Headmaster Christopher Sandford.
“The intent of this purchase is not to grow the population of Woodstock Academy, but to maintain our enrollment and provide our students with a top-quality 21st-century learning environment.”
As a member of the historic district and larger Woodstock community, the Woodstock Academy Board of Trustees said it is committed to maintaining the historic look and feel of the area. This opportunity provides many possibilities for the future while having the least impact on the Academy’s neighbors and historic district.
