New Members

PUTNAM — The Putnam Lions recently presented awards, inducted four new members and collected toys for distribution to Family Resource .
John and Carole Peters and Jim and Lisa Gardner were welcomed into the Putnam Lions Club by Lion Armand LaFleur. The new members were presented for membership by their sponsors, Lion President Lea Therrien and Lion Dianne Tremblay. During the ceremony they were given a history of the club and they were welcomed into the world’s largest and most active service club organization.
The following members received Attendance Awards for attending all meetings throughout the year: Deb Barbour, Carole Benoit, Mel Cassio, Joyce Fall, Steve Faucher, Linda Garcia, Fran Gregoire, Greg King, Armand LaFleur, Connielynn Olsen, Lea Therrien, Joe Vaccierello, Rick Bennett, Ed Briere, Al Cormier, Lea Faucher, Amy Franklin, Bernie Gilbert, Doug King, Denise LaFleur, Ann Russo and Dianne Tremblay.
Mel Cassio also received an award for bringing in three new members in the previous year.

Wreaths Across America here Dec. 13
The Wreaths Across America Pomfret Ceremony will be held at noon Dec. 13 at the Pomfret Town Green Monument.
All are welcome to join us at the Pomfret Wreaths Across America ceremony. Pomfret’s event is planned by Marian Hollawell of the DAR and First Selectman Maureen Nicholson. The Vanilla Bean will offer complimentary beverages to veterans beginning at 11:30 a.m. The ceremony will take place at noon beginning with the National Anthem. Please join us for this memorial wreath laying event.
In Putnam the American Legion Post 12 and the VFW Post 1523 will hold a ceremony at noon Dec. 13 beginning at the Veterans Memorial Park.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. --- Peter Joseph Boguszewski, a junior majoring in chemical engineering at the University of Rochester, has been named to the Dean’s List for academic achievement for the spring 2014 semester.

BOSTON --- Putnam resident Kendra Mitzman graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston during the university’s 46th commencement ceremonies on May 30, 2014.
