PUTNAM – The Quinebaug Valley Regional Rotaract Club raised more than $9,000 for four local charities at its recent Clash of the Charities Celebrity Bartender Night at J.D. Cooper’s Restaurant.
The club’s 3rd annual event added a competitive twist this year, with each charity keeping the tips from their stint behind the bar. Local organizations that participated were: the Northeastern Connecticut Council of Governments (NECCOG) Animal Services Program; Paddle for a Cure, which raises funds for Day Kimball Hospital’s Oncology Program; the Regional Community YMCA Family Center in Putnam; and Northeast Opportunities for Wellness (NOW). WINY Radio 1350 AM also did a shift behind the bar to benefit all four organizations.
The Regional Community YMCA was the competition champion, as the new facility, currently under construction, received a $5,000 tip during their shift. “The Rotaract Club is once again grateful for the community support of our event,” said Rotaract President Emily Morrison. “We are extremely proud and happy with the success of the event and that it could benefit four organizations that make such a difference in our community.”
