Members of the Putnam Business Association, from left: Karen Osbrey, Rhonda Wishart, Ann Monterio and President Earl Rosebrooks, present an award of $250 to the Natchaug  River Young Marines for services rendered. The Young Marines helped out at every First Fridays event in downtown Putnam this year, their first year. Rosebrooks said "It's great to see young people involved in community service."

WOODSTOCK —  The Board of Education is urging residents to take part in the board’s search committee for a new Superintendent.  Dr. H. Kaye Griffin, Executive Search Consultant of C.E.S. Executive Search Services has scheduled focus group meetings to gather thoughts and ideas from the community about the type of superintendent would be most successful in Woodstock.  Focus group sessions have been planned for: 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Nov. 3 at Woodstock Middle School (parents/community); 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Nov. 4 at Woodstock Elementary (parents/community); from 9 to 10 a.m. Nov. 5 at the Town Hall (seniors/community.
Residents who are unable to participate in the focus group meetings are urged to share their thoughts on a brief, anonymous online survey on the District website at woodstockschools.net.  The survey deadline is Oct. 30.
