$260 donation
PUTNAM — Members of the Savings Institute team presented a check in the amount of $260 to Susan Desrosiers, executive director of The Arc Quinebaug Valley, at The Arc’s Redemption Center located at 96 Front Str. “The employees of the Savings Institute have continaously shown generosity and dedication towards the mission of our agency, and we are forever grateful.” said Desrosiers.
The Arc Redemption Center is licensed through the CT Department of Environmental Protection and offers the community a convenient location to redeem their bottles and cans that carry the CT five cent deposit mark. The mission of the business is to provide individuals with life-affecting disabilities a meaningful “real work for real pay” opportunity and a chance to increase their skills toward greater independence. This gift from the Savings Institute will help to enhance services provided by The Arc.
“The Savings Institute has touched and improved many lives through their support and kindness over the years. Words cannot even begin to express how thankful and appreciative we are of the true kindness this community bank has demonstrated towards us.” said Desrosiers.

PUTNAM — Often when walking into a hospital people feel rushed, lost, worried, or any number of other feelings. But when greeted by someone who is kind, caring and considerate, people are often more at ease. Diane Morgan, Patient Access Representative at Day Kimball Hospital, has been doing that for patients for 12 years. This month she has been named Day Kimball Healthcare’s Employee of the Month.
Morgan joined the team at Day Kimball in 2001, working in the Dietary department. When she developed an interest in Patient Access she shadowed in the department on her own time. She found she loved it and so switched to her current position in 2003. In her role Morgan checks patients in and is responsible for accurately collecting their personal and insurance information, and informing patients of the hospital’s policies to ensure a smooth experience.
When she’s not at work, Morgan enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her family. She lives in Thompson with her husband and son.

The RSVP Veterans Coffeehouse recently received a donation of $718.45 from the Killingly Republican Town Committee. William Ritter, KRTC chair, presented the donation check to Greg Kline, RSVP coordinator for TVCCA. Ritter said KRTC was thrilled that the Veterans Coffeehouse is in Killingly and he thanked RSVP officials and volunteers for the work they are doing on behalf of the region’s veterans. Ritter pledged that KRTC would return next year with another donation to the Veterans Coffeehouse from funds raised at the Red White and Blue celebration.
