JEWETT CITY — Michael L. Alberts, president and CEO of Jewett City Savings Bank, announced that Mark Light has joined the bank as vice president, senior commercial loan officer.
In this role, Light will be responsible for the bank’s loan growth with relationship development and portfolio management. A resident of Coventry, Light brings 25 years of experience to Jewett City Savings Bank.
Before joining Jewett City Savings Bank, Light worked as vice president, relationship manager at Centreville Bank. He also spent 14 years at Savings Institute Bank & Trust Company.
Light holds a bachelor’s in business administration from Eastern Connecticut State University and a master’s degree from UConn.
In addition to his service to the banking community, Light serves as Willimantic Renaissance’s treasurer and is a board member of the Quinebaug Valley Community College Foundation.
“We’re delighted to welcome Mark to Jewett City Saving Bank. With years of experience in business lending and ongoing commitment to the community, Mark will bring a wealth of knowledge to benefit our commercial customers,” said Alberts.

DAYVILLE — Sandra Walmsley of Dayville was selected as Westview Health Care Center’s Employee of the Month for October 2021. She has worked in the Housekeeping Department since May of 1995 and is now supervisor.
She oversees a massive amount of laundry procedures on any given day.
She was previously named as Westview’s Employee of the Month in September 2003, and was awarded the honor of Westview’s 2012 Employee of the Year.
She and her husband Joseph are parents to David, Heidi, and Tyler, grandparents to Mary-Beth, Brittany and Tyler, and great-grandparents to Vanessa and Wyatt.
Westview Health Care Center Administrator David T. Panteleakos said: “Sandy is a trusted member of our organization, and in addition to having a member of her actual family as a coworker, she greatly contributes to the idea of Westview’s organizational family. Her efforts consistently support the work of her colleagues, enhance the experience of our visitors, and enable our patients to feel comfort and confidence in the setting of Westview Health Care Center. Sandy’s compassion for everyone in our building is genuine and we greatly appreciate her devotion.”

The Wyndham Land Trust invites all to attend the four seasonal Wee Wanders set for 2022.
Saturday, February 19, 2022, 10-11:30 a.m. Animal Tracking at the Robbins Preserve-Thompson.
Take a walk to the Five Mile River while looking for animal tracks.
Directions: Quaddick Town Farm Rd to Fred Davis Rd. Park at gate.
Saturday, May 7, 2022, 10-11:30 am. Salamander Search at the 3 B’s- Pomfret.
Sticking to the trail, visit a nice vernal pool. Chances will be good to spot someone looking up from under logs and leaves.
Directions: Wrights Crossing Rd (between Day Rd and Rt. 101, on the curve in the road.) Park cautiously on one side of the road only.
Saturday, August 6, 2022, 7-8 pm. Bats at Lyon Preserve- Pomfret
Bats do great work in nature, and twilight is a perfect time to see them flying and catching mosquitoes.
Directions: Rt. 101 to Wrights Crossing Road, as soon as you cross the bridge, take a right onto the Lyon Preserve. Plenty of parking in the lot.
Saturday, October 1, 2022, 10-11:30 am. Leaves & Mushrooms at Rapoport Preserve-Woodstock.
Celebrate fall and see how many leaves and mushrooms can be identified along Taylor Brook.
Directions: Joy Rd to Calkins Rd. This is a narrow road, so drive slowly and cautiously to the end and park respectfully.
