PUTNAM --- The Putnam Public Library will present a free family program, “Mohegan Tribal Traditions with David Eichelberg” who is an outreach and tradition specialist of the Mohegan Tribe from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. under the tent, rain or shine. Garden Tour
WOODSTOCK --- Quiet Corner Gardens, a self-guided tour of eight gardens in Pomfret, Putnam and Woodstock from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 13, is the Quiet Corner Garden Club’s latest offering to the community. Tickets can be purchased or picked up on the town green across from Roseland Cottage. $25 the day of the tour or $20 when purchased in advance at: quietcornergardenclub.com. Fireworks
PUTNAM --- The town of Putnam will present a fireworks and family fun extravaganza. From 5 to 6 p.m. listen to The Paperback Writers, a Beatles cover band, from 7:15 to 9:15 hear the sounds of the headliner band, Whiskey Boulevard. Fireworks start at 9:15. There will be food and family fun at Putnam Rotary Park. Rain date is July 13.

POMFRET --- “LEGO Camp” will be held July 15-19 --- from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 5-7; 1 to 4 p.m. ages 8-12 --- at the Pomfret Community School Cafeteria. Ages 5-7. camp runs from 9:00 am – noon Ages 8-12 camp runs from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Register and pay before July 4th the fee is $150. WOODSTOCK --- In celebration of the anniversary of Helicopter Cat Dad Beer release, Taylor Brooke Brewery, Rt. 171, is hosting a social evening from 5 to 8 to benefit Paws Cat Shelter. A basket drawing and photo booth will add to the fun. Beer and wine available for purchase. Paws Cat Shelter is a non-profit, all volunteer organization caring for the cats of our communities. WOODSTOCK --- Roseland Cottage’s Twilight Lawn Concert at 6:30 p.m. will present the Flamingos, an all-female swing band. Rain date Aug. 2. Grace Gourmet Food truck will be on site. Bring a pink flamingo or just dress in pink! Join us on the grounds of Roseland Cottage as we flock the Pink House! Anyone with a flamingo or dressed in predominantly pink clothes will be entered in a special drawing—must be present to win. Cosponsored by Historic New England and Woodstock Recreation. All concerts are free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket and picnic supper and continue the tradition begun by Henry Bowen, the builder of Roseland Cottage.

PUTNAM --- The Putnam Business Association will present Pluck-a-Duck Aug. 11 and 12. This year there will be a Kid Corner from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 11 in Rotary Park. It will share space with the town's annual Main Street Car Cruise. The next day the ducks will be plucked from a secret location.

Probate Court
moves to new
location
PUTNAM — Judge of Probate Gabrielle Labonte announced that the Northeast Probate Court has moved from 508 Pomfret St. to a more central location at 84 Providence St.
“The new space is situated in the heart of Putnam, right near the new municipal complex,” Judge Labonte said. “This move enables us to better accommodate visitors and enhances accessibility, being conveniently located on the public transportation route.”
Like all of Connecticut’s Probate Courts, the Northeast Probate Court works with families during times of need, providing services that include:
• Assisting older adults who need extra care to age in place in their own homes, instead of in a nursing facility
• Supervising the care and finances of individuals who need the assistance of a conservator
• Supporting individuals with intellectual disability to live in the community, rather than an institutional setting
• Keeping children in familiar surroundings, under the care of family and friend guardians, instead of being placed into foster care.
The Northeast Probate Court is open from 8:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday through Thursday and from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays. The court can still be reached at the same phone number which is (860) 928-4844. The Northeast Probate Court serves the towns of Ashford, Brooklyn, Eastford, Pomfret, Putnam, Thompson, and Woodstock.

George Becker, Air Force veteran
PUTNAM — George Becker, 64, of Sayles Avenue, died June 27, 2024. He was the husband of Debbie (Halbert) Becker. Born in Lebanon, N.H., he was the son of Francis (Gaudette) Becker and the late George Becker.
George worked for General Wire as a machine operator where he made wires for many years. He was a veteran of the Air Force and was known to many as very patriotic.
He leaves his son, Kristopher Becker of Cumberland, R.I.; daughter, Kimberly Becker of Dayville; two sisters, Kathy Becker of Durham, N.C., and Sandy Becker-Oullette of North Carolina; brother, Mike Becker of Putnam; two grandchildren, Julianna Rodriguez, Isaac Rodriguez, nieces and nephews. George is predeceased by sister, MaryAnn Becker, and daughter Lisa Becker
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service in George’s honor on at 3 p.m. July 19 at Creation Church, 47 W Thompson Rd, Thompson. A small reception will follow. Donations: https://gofund.me/767fe7a5. Gilman and Valade Funeral Homes and Crematory, 104 Church St., Putnam.
