PUTNAM — The Theatre of Northeastern Connecticut at the Bradley Playhouse on Front Street will present “Nunsense” ,which opens on April 10. The Little Sisters of Hoboken are back in the habit again!

Tonya Brock reprises the role of Sister Amnesia, the delightfully wacky nun who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head. Sister Robert Anne is a streetwise nun from Brooklyn who is portrayed by Beth Silvia and Sister Leo, a novice who plans to be the first ballerina nun, is played by Beth’s daughter Elizabeth Silvia.
All seats are reserved. Reservations may be made with a major credit card online at www.thebradleyplayhouse.org or by calling 860-928-7887. Tickets may be purchased at the theater box office, either before the performance or at the door.
The brainchild of Dan Goggin, Nunsense originated as a greeting card line which was so successful he expanded it into a cabaret show that ran for 38 weeks at Manhattan’s Duplex. Eventually it became a full length musical, opened off Broadway in 1985 and ran for 3672 performances over 10 years.
Nunsense opens when five of the remaining Little Sisters of Hoboken are planning a variety show to raise money to bury the last four sisters who remain unburied in the freezer. Their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God had accidentally killed all the others with tainted vichyssoise. The Mother Superior had a vision to start a greeting card company that paid for the burial of all but the last four. Could a visit from the health inspector be coming?

Pi Day at PMS
PUTNAM — The Putnam Middle school last week celebrated  Pi Day with contests and more.
Led by their principal, Teri Bruce, Ph.D., and their math teachers, Rhonda Chenail, Odena LaFreniere, and Jon Miller, sporting their Pi T-shirts, participated in a variety of Pi events.  Fifteen students fought for the title of who could recite the most consecutive numbers in Pi.  Each participant earned a piece of pizza (pi).  There were grade level benchmarks set that will certainly be a difficult feat to surpass.  Students also watched a short video about Pi.  Lastly, students competed in a grade level competition to see which group could put together the longest version of Pi in 10 minutes.
Carter LeBlanc, grade 7, topped the afternoon memorizing 111 of the numbers
Pari Patel, grade 8, came in 2nd place with 102 numbers
Jackson Diaz, grade 6 remembered 55 of the numbers
Each grade level winner was given a gift certificate for a large pizza.
The Table Talk Pies Company was in on the festivities as well, by providing Putnam Middle School with over 300 single serving pies of all varieties.  Pies stickered with the pi symbol were handed out to students following the loud and rather boisterous assembly.
