SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Bryant University held its 152nd Commencement May 16, 2015 and the following local students graduated: Antonio Carabina of Woodstock, Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Cum Laude; Tracey Keegan of Pascoag, Bachelor's  in Business Administration in Management; Matthew Marcotte of Dayville, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting Magna Cum Laude; Edward Marsh of Pascoag, Bachelor's in Business Administration in Management; Madilyn Royer of Pascoag, Bachelor's in Business Administration in Finance; Aubrey Waz of Pomfret Center, Bachelor's in Applied Psychology Cum Laude.

Monday --- Field Day: Hot dogs, orange drink, ice cream sundaes. Tuesday: Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, carrots, apple slices. Wednesday: Totally Taco Snax, corn, pineapple cups. Thursday: Pizza, broccoli, veggie cups, applesauce cups. Friday - last day - 12:30 dismissal: Deli turkey sandwiches, carrot snacks, veggie cups, fruit.
Putnam Elementary/Middle
Monday: Lasagna rolls, corn. Tuesday: Chef salads. Wednesday; - Brunch for Lunch: French toast sticks, sliced apples, scrambled eggs, hash browns. Thursday: Crispy chicken patties on rolls, green beans, sherbet. Friday: Stuffed crust pizza, spinach salad, strawberries.

Fire pg 7 6-11-15

 
 
POMFRET — On June 1 the members of the Pomfret Independent Fire Department elected officers to lead the department for the next two years. Brett Sheldon, who currently serves an assistant chief, has been elected fire chief. Jim Fernstrom was re-elected assistant chief and Matt Morrarty, currently a captain, has been elected to the second assistant chief position. Pat Boyd, who also serves as the EMS officer, was re-elected president of the company as was Vice President Mike Dumouchel, Secretary Tori Weaver and Treasurer Marcia Williams.
Sheldon will take office on July 1 replacing Fire Chief Derek May who served the last two years as chief and assistant chief before that. The Pomfret Fire Department is always looking for new volunteers to join the effort.
