WORCESTER — Two local students graduated May 16, 2015, from Assumption College with bachelor’s degrees:  Michaela Connors of Pascoag, graduated with a major in psychology; Ashley Impagliazzo of Glocester, graduated with a major in biology and a minor in management.

After the Arc Quinebaug Valley’s 18th Annual Rubber Duckie Race, first-place prize winner of a $500 VISA gift card was Putnam Chrysler Dodge Jeep & Putnam Kia. Mark Dexter, right, general manager of Putnam Chrysler Dodge Jeep & Putnam Kia, donated this first- place prize back to Susan M. Desrosiers, left, executive director of The Arc Quinebaug Valley. Dexter said, “Each year our business purchases rubber duckie tickets, not to win, but to contribute back to the community in a positive way.  We believe in The Arc and are happy to help.” The gift will be used to buy supplies for the departments within the agency. PUTNAM — For the third time Day Kimball has been awarded the “Patriot Award” by employees who are in the National Guard and Reserves.  Edie Cardwell, RN at Day Kimball Emergency Department is an Army Reserve Captain, nominated Colleen Smith and Patricia McLaughlin, Clinical Coordinators in the Emergency Department for their continued support of her Military Service and working at the same time at Day Kimball..
The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support Citizen Warriors through a wide range of measures including flexible schedules, time off to prior and after deployment, caring for families and granting leaves of absence if needed.  
The Patriot Award is the first in a series of awards for employers.  An employee serving in the National Guard or Reserve, or even the spouse of a Guard or Reserve member, may nominate individual supervisors and bosses for support provided directly to the nominating Service member and his or her family.
