Marine Corps Pvt. Jeremy J. Markowitz, grandson of Stacia Markowtiz of Putnam, earned the title of United States Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C. Markowitz is a 2012 graduate of Shaler Area High School of Glenshaw, Pa.
