PUTNAM — The Park Tribute Center, the first and only crematorium in Windham County, is now open.
Bob Fournier, funeral director and owner of the Gilman Funeral Home in Putnam and the Valade Funeral Home in North Grosvenordale, recently announced the opening. Park Tribute Center is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide complete funeral care to families who choose cremation. The new facility is at 25 Highland Drive in the Putnam Industrial Park.
An Open House will be held at the Park Tribute Center from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday,  November 17.  All are welcome to tour the facility, and the staff of Gilman and Valade Funeral Home will be on hand to answer all funeral and cremation-related questions.
Fournier said, “Now families will be offered the peace of mind that their loved one never leaves the care of the funeral home staff.  Located right in Putnam, the Park Tribute Center is also available to families for gathering and viewing services.”
He added, “As more people are selecting cremation, I felt strongly that our company should make this an integral part of our services, with the peace of mind one’s family member never leaves our care. And because cremation frequently follows the funeral, people now have the option of accompanying their family member to our comfortable ceremonial Tribute Center in a similar manner if concluding services at a cemetery.”
Founded in 1919, Gilman Funeral Home has helped guide families in Northeast Connecticut through a difficult time with gentleness, compassion and respect.  Since 2005, Bob Fournier and his staff have continued this tradition by introducing new services and contemporary options responding to the wider preferences and needs of the community while giving survivors the opportunity to mourn their loss amongst family and friends, and to begin the healing process.
