Nature Program
POMFRET --- The Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Pomfret will present "Evening Bird Walk" at 6 p.m. starting at the Grassland Bird Conservation Center on Day Road.  $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers. 928-4948
 
Fun Run
W. THOMPSON --- The West Thompson Dam Fun Run has started and will run through Sept. 17 on Wednesdays starting at the West Thompson Dam entrance on Ravenelle Road. Starts at 6:15 p.m. Distance is 3.1 and 1.44 miles. Fun Run or walk is free and open to all. For info: mayer.robert @sbcglobal.net. 
 
Art Exhibit
POMFRET --- The Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Pomfret will present "Air and Water, Space and Time," a drawings exhibit by George Jacobi, through Aug. 15 at the Grassland Bird Conservation Center on Day Road. Opening Reception is from 2 to 4 p.m. July 13. Portion of the sales benefits the center. 928-4948.

Fund-raiser
PUTNAM --- The VFW Post 1523 in Putnam will present Mind Master Bruce James, comedian/hypnotist, at 9 p.m. at the post. A chicken bbq dinner is at 7:30. $25 per person. 860-336-1982.

Blood Drive
CANTERBURY --- The Canterbury Historical Society will sponsor a Red Cross Blood Drive from 1 to 5:45 p.m. at the Town Hall. Donations can be scheduled in advance by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS and walk-ins are welcome, but donors with appointments will be taken first, and then, walk-ins will be worked in as the schedule allows. www.canterburyhistorical.org

PUTNAM --- An Invitation to Artique fund-raiser will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at Artique in downtown Putnam. Sponsored by Pace for a Purpose, it's a fund-raiser for DKH Deary Memorial Cancer Fund. 933-2221.
 
Concert, Frog Jump
EASTFORD --- The Congregational Church of Eastford on Church Road will present its annual summer band concert with the East Woodstock cornet Band at 6 p.m. Registration for the frog jumping is at 5:30 and events begin at 6. If you don’t have a frog, loaners will be available. Everything is free. All welcome. 
 
Pomfret Recycle
POMFRET --- The Town of Pomfret's bulky waste, scrap metal, paper recycling and tires recycling will be held at 9 a.m. at the Pomfret Murdock Property on Rt. 101. Pomfret residents only.

al Fresco
PUTNAM --- Real Diamond al Fresco will be presented at 7 p.m. in Rotary Park. River Fire begins at intermission and goes until 10. Free. Rain date is July 20. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.

POMFRET --- The Pomfret Senior Center on Rt. 44 will present TEEG Learn and Lunch’s “all About social Security” from noon to 2 p.m. July 22. The movie “Captain Phillips” will be presented at 12:30 p.m. July 23. Surrounding town seniors welcome.
