Fun Run
W. THOMPSON --- The West Thompson Dam Fun Run has started and will run through Sept. 17 on Wednesdays starting at the West Thompson Dam entrance on Ravenelle Road. Starts at 6:15 p.m. Distance is 3.1 and 1.44 miles. Fun Run or walk is free and open to all. For info: mayer.robert @sbcglobal.net. 
 
Art Exhibit
POMFRET --- The Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Pomfret will present "Air and Water, Space and Time," a drawings exhibit by George Jacobi, through Aug. 15 at the Grassland Bird Conservation Center on Day Road. Portion of the sales benefits the center. 928-4948.

PUTNAM --- The students of the Summer Arts Academy being held this week at Pomfret School will present an Academy On Stage evening performance and gallery exhibit at the First Friday event in downtown Putnam.  (860) 481-3757.
 
4-H Fair
BROOKLYN --- The Windham County 4-H Fair  will be held Aug 1, 2, 3 at the Brooklyn fairgrounds.  Admission is $1 per car. Livestock shows on Saturday include dairy, beef, sheep, rabbits, chickens.   Open Gymkhana horse show Sat afternoon. Arts and crafts and home show all weekend.  Public invited.

N. GROSVENORDALE --- The Knights of Columbus Council 2087 will hold a fish fry from noon to 8 p.m. at the hall on Riverside Drive. Prices vary. 923-2967.

Flea Market

Frog Regatta Fest
N. GROSVENORDALE --- Council 2087 of the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph School will hold their annual Frog Regatta Festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting from the foot bridge near the library. Frogs are $5 and there are prizes. Festivities continue until 5 p.m. 923-2967.

PUTNAM --- The town of Putnam presents the Main Street Car Cruise from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cruise includes cars, motorcycle stuntman, rolling burnouts, Diesel Truck tug-of-war, jet-ski demonstrations, a Dyno-trailer. The Arc Rubber Duck Race begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Bridge Street Bridge. Rain date is Aug. 17. www.mainstreetcarcruise.org.
 
Summer Fest
WOODSTOCK --- The 10th annual Summer Fest fund-raiser with a buffet and live entertainment will be held from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Inn at Woodstock Hill. Tickets are $55 each with advanced reservation. Tickets sold fewer than 3 days before the event are $65. $12 from each ticket sale will be donated to children’s treatment and supportive programs at the United Services Center for Autism.
