Fun Run
W. THOMPSON --- The West Thompson Dam Fun Run has started and will run through Sept. 17 on Wednesdays starting at the West Thompson Dam entrance on Ravenelle Road. Starts at 6:15 p.m. Distance is 3.1 and 1.44 miles. Fun Run or walk is free and open to all. For info: mayer.robert @sbcglobal.net. 
 
Art Exhibit
POMFRET --- The Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Pomfret will present "Colors of Nature," a mixed media exhibit by the Northeast Connecticut Art Guild, through Sept. 30 at the Grassland Bird Conservation Center on Day Road. Portion of the sales benefits the center. 928-4948.

Senior Luncheon
POMFRET --- The Pomfret Senior Association will be having a brown bag luncheon meeting at noon at the Pomfret Senior Center on Rt. 44. After the luncheon meeting there will be a Penny Social.  All Pomfret Seniors 50 and older welcome.

First Friday
PUTNAM --- The Putnam Business Association will present First Friday, with an agriculture theme, starting around 6 p.m. downtown.
 
Tag Sale
PUTNAM --- The Congregational Church of Putnam will hold a tag sale on the lawn from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 5 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 6. If raining, sale will be inside the ramp entrance.   860-942-4205.

Mum Sale
BROOKLYN --- The Friends of the Brooklyn Library will sponsor a Mum and Bakes Sale from 9 a.m. to noon on Rt. 6 near the center of Brooklyn on the front lawn of the Federated Church.
 
Flea Market
OXFORD, Mass. --- The First Congregational Church of Oxford, UCC, on Main Street will present a community flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.  
 
Dog Walk Fund-raiser
PUTNAM --- The Sixth Annual Dog Walk to support the NEADS “Canines for Combat Veterans” Program will be held from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Putnam Farmers’ Market Pavilion on Kennedy Drive. The dog walk has raised more than $15,000 for NEADS. Marbles Program
KILLINGLY --- The Killingly Historical Society will host a program on marbles given by Alphy Bard of the Nutmeg State Marble Collectors Club at 1:30 at the Historical Center on Main Street, Danielson. Free. All welcome.
 
Bottle, Can Drive
DAYVILLE --- Pet Pals Northeast, a local animal welfare organization, will be collecting redeemable bottles and cans to help homeless and needy animals from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wibberley Tire, at the junction of routes 12 and 101.
