PUTNAM — Coach Derek Marchione announced another addition to the newly start girls’ basketball program at Putnam Science Academy. Melicia Mendez of Weaver High School has decided she will attend PSA for a post grad year. 

After having a strong junior season, Mendez missed her senior year due to an injury. During her junior year, Mendez averaged 11.1 points per game to go along with 5.2 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game while being named all to the All-CCC Central Division all star team. 

“Melicia is a great addition to our program. She’s a very driven and knows exactly what she has to do to get to the next level,” Marchione said. Mendez also graduated from Weaver High School with High Honors and was a member of the National Honor Society all four years.
