Bottle Drive
CANTERBURY --- Pet Pals Northeast, a local animal welfare organization, will be collecting redeemable bottles and cans to help homeless and needy animals from noon to 3:30 p.m. at Canterbury Cones on Rt. 169. Dry cat food needed, Purina brands preferred. Fund-raiser Golf
PUTNAM --- The Ovarian Cancer Research fund-raiser golf tournament will be held at Connecticut National Golf Course. Registration is from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; 1 p.m. shotgun start and dinner is at 6:15. The event is in honor of Cynthia Johnson. Entry cutoff is Aug. 1. Acorn Adventure
ASHFORD --- Acorn Adventure – Pixie Village Hike will be held at 10 a.m. at the  Natchaug State Forest Parking Area on Iron Mine Lane, off Rt. 89. Half mile hike with The Last Green Valley’s  Chief Ranger Bill Reid into Pixie Falls.  This hike is suitable for little legs who can make it a half-mile into the falls and then back out. STURBRIDGE --- The Last Green Valley’s Tastes of the Valley fund-raiser will begin at 4 p.m. at  The Publick House, Sturbridge.
