PUTNAM — American Legion Mayotte-Viens Post 13 is offering the American Legion Post #13 Scholarship Award. The deadline is April 1.
This nonrenewable $500 scholarship will be made available to the most deserving applicant who is a child, grandchild or sibling of a veteran, living or deceased, or a child, grandchild, or sibling of an active-duty member of the Armed Forces, or a child, grandchild or sibling of a former Armed Forces member deceased while on active duty or as a result thereof.
Complete applications with supporting documents must be received by the Scholarship Chairman or school guidance offices by April 1. In Putnam, scholarship applications may be picked up in the Guidance Office.

Rules: Applicants must be a graduating senior and a resident of Putnam or Pomfret, regardless of high school or homeschool setting. The award is considered only for applicants who will be enrolling in a two-year or four-year college, university, or technical college. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in a planned program leading to either an associate or baccalaureate degree or a technical college certificate of completion. 
Note: A copy of the DD-214, or other documentary evidence supporting military service is required.
The Putnam American Legion Post 13 and its Scholarship Committee – Senior Vice Commander Ronald P. Coderre, Adjutant Sarah L. Hamby, and Judge Advocate Albert L. Cormier – is hoping that all Putnam seniors who have family members who have served honorably in the various Armed Forces apply for this scholarship. 
Last year’s scholarship was awarded to Putnam High School’s own Ryan Peterson.
