Anti-Bullying
session planned
Thanks to a grant received from The Community Foundation-Northeast Connecticut Women & Girls Fund, The Arc Quinebaug Valley has been offering Anti-Bullying sessions to all of our programs taught by Master Instructor Mike Bogdanski and Kristin Duethorn from Quest Martial Arts. We have completed three sessions at our agency thus far.
Everyone involved has been given the chance to learn some simple, quick and effective techniques to defend themselves in the event of an attack or abuse.
The next session is for senior citizens, at 10:15 a.m. May 7 at the Quinebaug Valley Senior Center in Brooklyn.  There is no cost for the program but seniors are asked to sign up by calling 860-774-1243.
Master Instructors Mike & Kristin will teach seniors about verbal de-escalation, setting personal space boundaries and various easy to learn self-defense techniques.
Seniors will learn some very valuable protection strategies which can be used in various situations that seniors may find themselves in which their safety is threatened. At home or in the community, this class will cover many situations and will empower seniors with the knowledge they need to be safe and less vulnerable
