Wrestling falls
to New London
WOODSTOCK — The Woodstock Academy wrestling team gave up three matches to forfeits and lost another by injury default which didn’t help in a 55-24 loss to the New London Dec. 20 in its first home match of the season at South Campus.
“It was a tough match, plagued by two unexpected injuries on our bench,” first-year coach Wes Jenkins said.
The Centaurs, who lost their season opener to Killingly 67-6 last week, did get three pins.
Ben Holden, battling a cold, persevered and captured his first pin of the season at 160 pounds. He felled David Dorn in the third period.
Patrick Barrows also collected his first win by pin of the year, taking down Noah Kimball just 1:02 into their 220-pound match.
At 113, Aaron Hu also recorded his first pin of the year when he put Elsye Martinez down in the second period.
