David H. Luppi
WOODSTOCK — David H. Luppi, 64, of Dodge Rd., died Sept. 9, 2018, in Hartford Hospital. He was the husband of 31 years to Lara (Jacunski) Luppi. Born in 1954 in New Haven, he was the son of the late Howard and Jean (Blevins) Luppi.
Mr. Luppi was a graduate of Bentley University with a degree in computer science. He worked as a financial advisor, a long-term care insurance salesman, and a computer programmer. David liked playing baseball, softball, tennis and basketball. He enjoyed travelling, gardening, deep sea fishing and playing his guitar.
In addition to his wife Lara, he leaves his sons, Rob Luppi of Manchester and Tyler Luppi of Brooklyn, N.Y.; his daughter, Julia Luppi of Woodstock; and his sister, Mary-Jean Luppi of N. Haven. He was predeceased by his brother Howard Luppi Jr.; in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends.

Blanche M. Briere
DANIELSON — Blanche M. Briere, 94, of Carol Ave., died peacefully Sept. 7, 2018, at home. She was the wife of the late Alfred H. Briere Sr.
Born in 1923 in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Rose (Dube) Jaffre.
Blanche was a homemaker who took pride in caring for her husband, children and many grandchildren. She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, dancing, solving word searches, going to the casino, eating out and playing cards with her family. She loved jewelry and fashion. She donated to hundreds of charities. During her time of need, her daughters Blanche and Ann cared for her every need.
She leaves four sons, Alfred Briere Jr. of Arizona, Richard Briere of California, Albert Briere of Putnam and Emil Briere (Cathy) of Rogers; four daughters Blanche Bernier (Michael) of Danielson with whom she lived, Marie Truppa (Carmine) of Moosup, Ann Briere of Danielson and Lea Rzeznikiewicz (Edward) of Putnam; grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter Emma Richards. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son William Deteau; her two daughters, Rosie Deteau Brown and Catherine Ann Deteau; her two stillborn children; her brothers Henry Jaffre and Arthur Jaffre; and her daughter-in-law, Linda Briere.

Mary Lou Gudmundson
PUTNAM — Mary Lou Gudmundson, 75, of Putnam, died Sept. 12, 2018, at Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam.
Born Nov. 20, 1942, in Providence, daughter of the late Peter J. and Mary (King) Healey. She was the wife of the late Clive A. Gudmundson. He died in 2017. Mary Lou worked for FM Global in Financial Claims.
She leaves her brother-in-law Calvin Gudmundson (Betsy); her cousins; nieces, nephews and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial was Sept. 17 at Most Holy Trinity Church, 568 Pomfret St., Pomfret, with burial at Willington Hill Cemetery, Willington. Rachel M. Buder
MASHPEE, Mass. — Rachel M. Buder, 90, of Mashpee, was born in Putnam, the third of eight children born to Edward and Antoinette Bourgeois.
She died Sept. 8, 2018, at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital after a 10-year battle with lung cancer.
Rachel was employed until her retirement by the State of Connecticut as a nurse in an inpatient facility for special needs adults. She drove and lived independently until recently, when she moved to live with her family on Martha’s Vineyard. Her pride and joy was her home and her yard and gardens, which she maintained in a meticulous manner. Rare was the day when she didn’t have a home project in motion. Within six weeks of her death, she was working to repair a concrete apron in her driveway.
She leaves her son, Deacon Karl G. Buder (Lynn) of Vineyard Haven, Mass.; two grandsons, Alexander G. Buder II (Kelsey) of San Diego, Calif., and Hans D. Buder (Meghan) of Carmel, Calif.; one great-grandson, Elliott J. Buder of San Diego; two sisters, Elaine Belsey of California, Cecile Bourgeois of Rhode Island; two brothers, Henry Bourgeois of Connecticut and David Bourgeois of Georgia. She was predeceased by her parents, three siblings and her husband of 54 years, Alexander G. Buder I.
A Funeral Mass was Sept. 17 at Christ the King Parish in Mashpee, by Fr. Michael Nagle, the pastor of Good Shepherd Parish on Martha’s Vineyard, who is a friend of the Buder family. Burial will be at a later date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne beside her husband. Donations: Marianapolis Preparatory School, 26 Chase Road, Thompson, CT, 06277, which her son and several family members attended.
Jean Marie Pappas
THOMPSON — Jean Marie Pappas, 64, died Sept. 9, 2018, after a battle with cancer. She was born and raised in Webster, daughter of the late Hercules Pappas and Sophia (Andri) Pappas.
She leaves her partner of many years, Ronald Desaulnier of Thompson; her daughters, Lisa Enman of Sunnyvale, Calif., a PhD chemist and Julia Enman of Winter Garden, Fla., a financial analyst for Disney World; her brothers James Pappas (Barbara) of Chichester, N.H., and Peter Pappas of Webster; sisters Christine Whelan and her partner Paul Grady of Oxford, Mass., and Penny Pappas of Holden, Mass.
Jean’s last job was working for Day Kimball Health Care in Danielson as a patient service representative, where she worked with great people. She enjoyed playing golf, board games and going to Broadway shows. Her passion was playing tennis all year round with the greatest tennis players.
The Funeral Service was Sept. 14 at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam, with burial at St. Mary Cemetery, Putnam. Donations to her tennis club payable to Margaret B. Paskavitch Estate and mailed to Carl Reidemeister, 66 Barrett Hill Road, Brooklyn, CT 06234.
Shirley Ellis
DANIELSON — Shirley Campbell Gettig Ellis died Sept. 16, 2018, at Davis Place, Danielson.
She was born Dec. 26, 1938, in Oil City, Penn., the daughter of the late Theodore and Elizabeth Campbell.
Shirley lived most of her life in northeastern Connecticut, living in Danielson, Brooklyn and Woodstock. She was a long time member of the Westfield Congregational Church in Danielson, having been a soloist and member of the choir.
She leaves her daughter Tammie L. Gettig Morrison (Bruce), of Woodstock Valley; son Robert D. Gettig III (Lori) of Meban N.C.; granddaughter Amanda Morrison Ludwig (Paul); grandson Joshua Morrison; great-grandson Paul William Ludwig III.
She was predeceased by her husband Arvin Ellis; brother James Campbell;, granddaughter Justine Gettig.
The Service is at 10 a.m. Sept. 22 at Westfield Congregational Church, Main Street Danielson. Donations: Westfield Congregational Church. Bartel Funeral Home, Dudley.
