HAMPTON — The Quiet Corner Chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association (NEMBA) is hosting two free events to introduce people to trail riding at Goodwin State Forest in Hampton (23 Potter Rd). Both rides are in partnership with The Last Green Valley. A ride for adults and teens on May 18 is part of TLGV’s “Spring Outdoors” event, a series of free activities throughout the heritage corridor. A ride for children on June 22 is part of TLGV’s “Acorn Adventures” program, teaching kids about the many different ways to have fun in nature.
The “Spring Outdoors Mountain Bike Ride “will be held from 9 a.m. to noon May 18. Open to all levels, teen to adult, including single track, double-track and cart roads. TLGV’s “Acorn Adventure: Off-Road on Two Wheels with QC NEMBA” is from 10 a.m. to noon June 22. Children will learn safety and riding tips to make trail riding fun and a way to enjoy nature while exploring on two wheels. Kids must be comfortable riding their bikes and will be split into groups according to experience. Ages 8 and up are recommended but participation is up to the discretion of parents and the QC NEMBA volunteers. Helmets and bikes are required. Parents must attend. Bring water and dress appropriately.  Snacks. Weather permitting, no rain date. Pre-registration required, call: 860-774-3300.
