Town of Putnam
Annual Budget
Process
Due to COVID 19, the Town of Putnam, like all municipalities in the State of Connecticut, has been ordered by the Governor to modify the procedures for our budget review and approval process for the fiscal year starting on July 1, 2020 and ending on June 30, 2021. The Budget Workshop has been postponed to May 6th and the Annual Town Meeting has been postponed to May 20th. While we may not be allowed to hold an in-person public hearing, the Town is accepting comments via a designated email address as described below and will have all public meetings and hearings broadcast for public viewing. The budget includes the General Government operational and capital budgets, the Board of Education operational budget, the Library budget, expected revenues and other components. The Board of Finance is responsible for presenting the final combined budget for the Town. Depending on the pandemic circumstances as we near the end of the budget process, the Board of Selectmen may be required by the Governor’s Executive Orders to authorize the Board of Finance to adopt the fiscal year 20/21 budget and set the mill rate without a referendum vote.
Our Town website includes Board of Finance agendas and minutes, and instructions on how the public can remotely attend the Board’s meetings, which are being held using the web platform Zoom. There are also options to join in by phone.
Please see https://www.putnamct.us/board-of-finance for agendas.
