DANIELSON — Quinebaug Valley Community College held its 45th commencement May 25, 2017. Two hundred sixty-three students were awarded degrees and certificates.

Jenna Haines ’17 was the student speaker. The President’s Award was presented to graduate Linda Colangelo ’03 of Putnam, education and communications coordinator for the Northeast District Department of Health. A champion of many charitable causes, she is a passionate advocate for improving the quality of life for residents of northeastern Connecticut.

Logo Change

The Rectory School in Pomfret recently introduced a new logo. When it began nearly 100 years ago, it was primarily a boys school. But the early childhood program was introduced in the 1980s, an elementary school came in 2004, and girls boarding started in 2007, so the logo was changed to reflect the now diverse student population. Zoning Commission

The Town of Putnam Zoning Commission will hold a meeting on August 16, 2017, at 7:00 P.M. at the Putnam Town Hall located at 126 Church Street, Putnam, CT.  A public hearing will be held on the following:

Docket #2017-06: Quiet Corner Property Acquisitions, LLC  — Request for a proposed text amendment to Table IV-1 – Schedule of Dimensional Regulations Footnote 2 of the Town of Putnam Zoning Regulations to read as follows:

Footnote 2 (Max. Height in PD District) Building height may be increased to sixty-five feet, provided that for every foot of height in excess of forty feet, there shall be added to each yard requirement one corresponding foot of width or depth, except for existing non-conforming structures that lack sufficient yard depth or width to meet this requirement.  Any such non-conforming structures will be subject to the Special Permit requirements to Section 502 C-1, for any such height increase.
