POMFRET — The third annual Windham-Tolland 4-H Camp Camper Scamper 5 K Race/Walk and 1 Mile Kid Run will be held on April 23.  Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the race starts at 10. Walkers will begin immediately after runners.  The race will be professionally timed by Last Mile Race Management and there will be awards for Top 3 for Men and Women in each division.  
All proceeds will go into the Jim Logee campership fund which provided some level of support to 149 campers last year to help with the cost of attending camp.  Jim Logee was a dedicated member of the Windham-Tolland 4-H camp community. He is a past president of the Windham County 4-H Foundation and chairman of the Camp Committee. He died in 2007.

Volunteering
Putnam Bank President and CEO Tom Borner, and his wife Kathy volunteered with St. Bernard Project on rebuild still underway from Hurricane Katrina as part of the annual ICBA convention in New Orleans.  St. Bernard Project is a nonprofit organization founded in 2006 which exists to ensure that communities at risk of, or impacted by disaster, have the resources to prepare and recover in the most prompt, efficient, and predictable way possible. PUTNAM ---  There will be a food drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cargill Council 64 Knights of Columbus Hall on Providence Street. Honored
Nathan Mitchell was named Westview Health Care Center’s Employee of The Month for February. He lives in Brooklyn, and works in the facility’s Dietary Department as the Dietary Evening Supervisor.  He has been employed at Westview since May 2011 and he previously won the Employee of The Month in December of 2011. “This is Nathan’s second award and he truly deserves all of the accolades he receives,” said administrator David T. Panteleakos.  Previous to his employment at Westview, Mitchell received a degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University in Providence.
