After two overtimes and Stonington hitting 14 three-pointers, Woodstock Academy emerged victorious Jan. 18 with a 65-64 score. Chase Anderson matched the scoring effort racking up 32 points in the contest and Aaron Johnson grabbed the key rebound with 1.7 seconds left on the clock in double overtime, where he was fouled and send to the freethrow line and hit one of two and bringing his total to 17 points to wrap up the victory. The Academy moves to 500 on the year at 5-5, 2-2. Jared Bouton scored seven points, and Cole Hackett scored six for Woodstock.  Stonington was led by Zach Scott who scored 14 points, while Wade Post and Lennox Deer scored 10 apiece, as well as Connor Woodworth who scored nine points for the Bears. The Bears are now 5-6.
Killingly 54  --- Griswold 41
Jan. 21 the Killingly Redman snapped a four-game losing drought after they defeated the Griswold Wolverines by a 54 to 31 score, led by Luke Desaulnier who had a game-high 15 points and grabbed six rebounds. Dommoy Ennis was right behind him with 14 points and was a game changer in the rebounding column. Sean Johndrow added 11 points for the Redman who move to 4-5 on the season. The Wolverines were led by Max Gregory who scored 12 points, and Bryce Mileski had 11 points, six rebounds and six steals as the Wolverines fall to 5-6.

Our Savior Lutheran 74
The PSA Mustangs had a packed house as it hosted undefeated Our Savior Lutheran, and were behind the leaders Eric Ayala, who had a triple double recording 14 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out 10 assists, and Jaheam Cornwall who put up 17 points in the game to go with seven assists. Malik Ondigo picked up where he left off, scoring 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Brandon Hurst also added 11 points, and Malik Curry scored 10 points for the Mustangs (17-4).

In a high-scoring effort, The PSA Varsity squad had six players in double figures being led by Manny Warren who scored a game-high 27 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. Kasey Walker scored 22 points, while Amir Paul had 19 points and six rebounds. Dan Porcic and Nate Patenaude both contributed 16 points, and Alex White had 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, as the PSA Varsity moves to 14-3.

Marianapolis 64
Marianapolis came into the game looking to the shooting and aggression of Joe Del Ricci, who did just that when he came out of the half and put up 15 points in the second half on his way to 19 for the day. Tyler Burton and Steph Baxter were also critical who each had eight first half points, and the two combined for six steals in the contest. A common theme in the game was getting to the free-throw line.  Turns out they were crucial for the Marianapolis Knights as a team, shot 21-for-24 from the charity stripe.  Marianapolis was able to secure the win, 64-51

Griswold 65
Griswold came out of the gate shooting from behind the arc, converting nine three-pointers in the first half to set a comfortable lead over the Tigers and didn’t look back. Max Gregory was responsible for four of those long-range baskets as he finished with 18 points, and Pharaoh Curtis contributed 14 points while Jared Strmiska and Bryce Mileski each scored six points moving the Wolverines to 7-6, 4-3 on the season. Evan Ware continued to put his team on his shoulders and finished the game with a game-high 21 points while Simon Silvia added 7 points for the Tigers (4-9, 1-6)

East Lyme 57
Chase Anderson paced the Centaurs in their matchup against East Lyme with 30 points but fell short by six points and move to (5-6, 2,2) on the season. Nick Short had seven points, while Cole Hackett and Jared Bouten had four points.  Luke Leonard and Dev Ostrowski lead the way for East Lyme with 15 points while J.R Ganderberger put up nine points in the game to move to (6-4) on the season.

The Clippers faced off against the Mighty Tigers who came into the game unbeaten in conference play and their captain, Luis Quintana, put his team on his back scoring 31 points in the game, while Cole Paquin scored 18 points to lead the Tigers past Putnam to stay unbeaten and 8-4, 4-0 on the season. Putnam was led by Lucas Bastilio who scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Scott Davagian who scored 13 points for the Clippers (5-6, 3-3)

In the girls-boys double header at Marianapolis, the Golden Knights made a clean sweep in both contests, as the Knights were behind Joe Del Ricci who was on fire from deep, scoring 31 points. The Griffins adjusted at half to go zone, which cooled off the hot shooting from the Knights and it became a game again. The efforts of Tyler Burton and Amani Chambe in attacking the middle of the zone with physicality helped the Knights to hold onto their lead. The Knights are now 5-7 while Pomfret is now 4-7.

Redemption Christian Academy 64
Eric Ayala paced the Putnam Science Mustangs on the road with 26 points and five assists, while Alexis Yetna had 13 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to route to the three straight victory for PSA (16-4). Issac Kante had nine points and five rebounds to go along with Darnell Brodie scoring seven points and five boards, and new transfer Malik Curry and KeAndre Fair each scored six points. Redemption Christian Academy’s top scorer was Christopher Duarte who scored 15 points and Allen Lewis scored 11 points and hit three three-pointers.

Chris Peasley leads the Panthers over the Saints (3-7, 2-4) with 13 points while Markeith Conyers scored 11 points for Plainfield (9-1, 6-0 ECC Div. 3). Connor Davis also added 11 points for the Panthers, while Jarvin Alday puts in six points.  Hunter Baillergeon led the way for the Saints with 13 points as well as Connor Svab and Brian Bergeron both had five points.

Jonah Dupuis leads the Pirates past the Clippers when he posted 22 points, five assists, and grabbed four rebounds to defeat the CSC east rivals by a score of 70-53.  Tommy Lehoux was also very much prepared to play in this game, scoring 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Daniel Beer scored 13 points and 10 rebounds to move Parish Hill to (6-4, 3-1).  Lucas Bastilio and Sebastian Ramos were both great for the Clippers each scoring 21 points. Lucas grabbed 11 rebounds as the Clippers fall to 5-5, 3-2 on the season.

Jaheam Cornwall may be the smallest player on the court, but he plays with the most heart and fight than anybody else. He showed that by burying five three-pointers and hitting 10 free throws totaling 33 points. That included the first 20 points in the first eight minutes of the second half that was a three-point lead for the Mustangs. That all went along with 10 assists. Eric Ayala was just as special scoring 14 points, 11 assists, and seven rebounds. Issac Kante scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds, Adham Floyd contributed for the Mustangs scoring his career prep high with double digits with 10, while Malik Ondigo and Brandon Hurst add eight points. The Mustangs move to 15-4.

Was the second game of the back-to-back at home for the Mustangs, and the scoring carried into the Varsity game as Amir Paul and Jordan Pettway led the charge shooting from all over the court, both hitting five three-pointers totaling 27 points for Amir and 24 points for Pettway. Nate Patenaude scored 14 points for PSA, as well as Plainfield alum Liam Jacobs scoring 12 points for the varsity squad while Manny Warren put up 10 points and eight assists, to go with Isiah Laurent’s nine points and seven rebounds, and Dan Porcic scored Six points burying two three-pointers in the corner moving the Varsity team to (14-2).

Markieth Conyers led the Panthers passed the Tigers with 15 points to move to on the season.  The Panthers received great contributions from Chris Peasley who scored 13 points and four rebounds; Eli Malbouef who scored eight points inside and grabbed six rebounds; Jarvin Alday scored six, and Connor Davis puts up five for Plainfield. The Tigers knew that they needed to have some kind of strategy to match up against the height of the Panthers, so he decided to play zone to try and match up, but the shooters just made shots, and Plainfield moves to 8-1 on the season and 5-0 in conference play.  The Tigers were led by senior Evan Ware with 15 points and five rebounds. Devin Barbour scored five points, while Josh Dodd and Jackson Padula scored four points for Tourtellotte (4-6).   
Local Thanksgiving Football Match Up Changes
The traditional football matchup between the Quinebaug Valley Pride and The Killingly Redman on Thanksgiving is coming to a close as both teams go in new directions. The Technical League decided to switch up the new schedules for the upcoming season. That now means that QVP will now take on Thames River, which is a co-op school consisting of Norwich Tech, Grasso Tech, and the St. Bernard Saints. The new local face off on Turkey Day is the Killingly Redman vs. the Woodstock Centaurs. The series will kick off this Fall at Bentley Complex and will alternate each year. Coach Chad Neal and coach Sean Saucier are both excited about the new matchup and talks about preparation, leading up to the game will be fun within the student body, the administration, and the communities and both believe the Turkey Day game will be a good battle for at least the next four years.
