Arlene B. Bellerose
CLERMONT, Fla. — Arlene B. (Boynton) Bellerose, a longtime local funeral director formerly of Putnam and Dayville, died peacefully Oct. 27, 2017, at Colonial Lakes Health Care, Winter Garden, Fla. She was 79.
Arlene was born and raised in Rutland, Vt., the daughter of the late Reginald F. and Luella D. (Bell) Boynton. She attended Rutland Schools and graduated from Rutland High School, Class of 1956. She then attended the former Rutland Business School. She moved to Hartford to work for the Travelers Insurance Company. She met a young man enjoying lunch at the same diner, Larry Bellerose, who was working as a funeral director in Hartford. 
They married in Rutland in May of 1959 and moved back to the Putnam / N. Grosvenordale area and settled down while Larry started to work at the local funeral home, The Gilman Funeral Home. In 1973 they purchased the funeral home together. In 1980, they purchased the Valade Funeral Home in N. Grosvenordale and Arlene joined her husband full time as a funeral director following her graduation from the New England Institute in Boston, where she earned her funeral directing degree. Together, they owned the funeral homes until 2000.
Arlene was active in many community groups including past president of the Woman’s Board of the Day Kimball Hospital, a former member of the Rotary Club of Putnam, where she was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow, and former member of the Connecticut and National Funeral Directors Associations. 
A faith-filled woman, Arlene was a former member of St. Mary Church of the Visitation parish in Putnam, St. Joseph parish in Dayville and Blessed Sacrament parish in Clermont. She was also a former member of the Daughters of Isabella in Putnam. Arlene enjoyed sewing, embroidery, knitting and baking. For many years, she enjoyed spending summers on Alexander’s Lake in Dayville, and moved there full time in 2002. She then moved to Clermont in 2006.
She leaves her husband of 58 years, Lawrence J. “Larry” Bellerose; three children, John L. Bellerose and his companion, Wendy Monroe of Newmarket, N.H., David B. Bellerose (Kimberly) of Oxford, Mass., and Kathryn B. Willard (Robert) of Thompson; her brother, R. Gary Boynton and his companion, Kathy Davis of Shelburne, Vt.; five grandchildren, Ryan Bellerose (Kat) of Putnam, Alexandra and Anneliese Bellerose, both of Oxford and Emma and Zachary Willard of Thompson; and a great grandson, Raiden.

Ronald C. Iverson
U.S. Air Force vet
EASTFORD — Donald C. Iverson, 78, of Eastford, died Nov. 3, 2017, at Evergreen Health Care Center in Stafford. He was born Dec. 8, 1938, in Albert Lea, Minn., son of the late Michael and Hattie (Neste) Iverson. He was the husband of Dale (Shippee) Iverson. She died on June 25, 2007.
Ronald was a member of the U.S. Air Force and worked at Pratt and Whitney for almost 40 years. Ronald was a member of the Assembly of God in Putnam and also a member of the Eastford Senior Center.
He leaves his son Michael Iverson of Eastford; his daughters Vicky Billington of Eastford, Carrie Iverson (Ward) of Dayville, Bethany Bouchard (Allan) of Enfield; his grandchildren Samantha, Katie, Paige, Carter and Jackson; his great-grandchildren Toby, Scarlet, Ezra, Ari and Asher. Ronald was predeceased by two sisters and one brother. 
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 17 at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam. Donations: American Cancer Society.
 
Dakota Noel Bartlett
HAMPTON —  Dakota Noel Bartlett died unexpectedly Oct. 26, 2017, with his beloved pets Brownie and Rascal Ella. Dakota was born on March 24, 2001, the son of Judy Noel and Raymond Bartlett Jr.
He attended Hampton Elementary School and was a junior at Parish Hill Middle/High School. Dakota was a kind-hearted person who was always smiling and always willing to help out. He was an old soul, born with a sense of self and confidence that most people never achieve. He enjoyed driving his tractors whether at home on the farm, in the Memorial Day Parade, or even to school on the last day. He enjoyed country music, spending time with family and friends, his new job at Little Nikos Pizzeria, and was looking forward to getting his license.
In addition to his parents, Dakota leaves his stepmother, Marjorie; his sister, Stacey Collin; and brother, Jerimiah Bartlett; and aunts; uncles; cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Charles and Viola Noel and Raymond and Betty Bartlett Sr. 
A Celebration of his life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Chaplin Fire House. Gilman and Valade Funeral Home and Crematory, 104 Church St., Putnam.
 
Maryann M. Boutin
PLAINFIELD — Maryann (Heeps) Boutin, 80, of Erin Dr., died Nov. 1, 2017, at Beechwood Rehab in New London.  She was the wife of the late Lucien P. Boutin.  Born in 1936 in Oxford, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Leo and Rita (Childs) Heeps.
Mrs. Boutin worked as an assembler for Johnson & Johnson Corp.  She was a member of the Southeastern Connecticut Mustang Club.  She enjoyed country music, especially listening to her son’s band “Vanishing Breed”.  When she wasn’t doing puzzles books, she would be watching Nascar and cheering on her favorite driver Mark Martin.  
She leaves her sons, Lucien G. Boutin Sr. of Voluntown, Marcel Boutin of Clearwater, Fla., Robert R. Boutin Sr. of Moosup, Joseph Boutin of Clearwater; her daughters, Maryann B. Boutin of Waterford, Carol Smith of Plainfield and Yvette Boutin of Waterford; her sisters, Leona Lincoln of Leicester, Mass., and Sally Heeps of Webster; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.   She was predeceased by her brother Leo Heeps.

Jennie A. Chartier
DAYVILLE — Jennie A. Chartier, 92, of Dayville, died Nov. 1, 2017, at home.
Born Sept. 8, 1925, in Plainfield, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Sophie (Kogut) Olearos.  
Jennie attended Moosup schools. She married Albert L. Chartier in 1947 and they spent the next 63 years together. She worked most of her life at Acme Cotton. She enjoyed gardening, baking and listening to polka music. She was a devout Catholic who attended services at several of the local parishes.
She leaves her children: Allen Chartier (Nancy), Susan Chartier, Thomas Chartier (Sandra), all of Dayville, and Carolyn Chartier-Normandie (Peter Normandie) of Woodstock; grandchildren Scott, Christopher, Jennifer, Thomas, Jeremy, Vera, Elijah, 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Albert in 2010; a brother Alex Olearos and sister Helen Daigneault.

Carol A. Ellis 
Carol A. Ellis 58, died Nov. 2, 2017, after a long battle with cancer. She leaves her husband James A. Ellis of 34 years. They began their loving life together when Carol was 14 years old. 
She was born Nov. 23, 1958, daughter of the late Walter Christopher and Shirley A. Lynch of Putnam CT. 
Carol loved to spend time with her family but also loved to meet strangers and hear their lives story. She was a caregiver and always put others’ needs before her own. One of her last acts of kindness was to plan her mother’s 80th birthday party. She was a master renovator and took pride in turning something that was abandon and run down into something beautiful. Nothing delighted her more than finding the best material for the best price. 
She loved to travel with her husband and was a specialist at planning cruises. They went on multiple cruises over the years and loved it so much she wanted to share the experience with her family. This past year she planned and took her family on eastern Caribbean cruise to one of her favorite spots Half Moon Cay, Bahamas. Carol was an avid baker. Each holiday she would make everyone’s favorite cookies and ensure that each family received a special package all for themselves.
She also leaves her sister Barbara Emerson (Pete) of Woodstock; her brothers Walter Steven Lynch (Lisa) of Thompson; Randall Lynch and girlfriend Kelly Murphy of Eastford, Thomas Lynch (Ginger) of Woodstock Valley; nieces and nephews Stacey A. Lynch, Walter Kyle Lynch, Joseph R Lynch (Wendy), Krysta M. Lynch (god daughter) , Cameron C Lynch, Dillon Murphy, Garrett T Lynch and Teagan C Lynch; one great-niece Haleigh Lynch.

Manuel S. Lameira
KILLINGLY — Manuel S. Lameira, 66, died Nov. 2, 2017, at home. He was born May 18, 1951, in Milfontes, Portugal, son of the late Joao and Idalia (Candeias) Lameira. He was the husband of Pamela (Flagg) Lameira.
Manuel worked hard all his life to provide for his family before he became ill. 
He leaves his wife Pamela Lameira; his children Linda Duff (Kenneth), Miguel Lameira (Stephanie); five grandchildren.

Sharon A. Hajec
WEBSTER — Sharon A. (Werstak) Hajec, 65, died Oct. 29, 2017, at the TCU at Hubbard Hospital after a year and a half battle with cancer.
Sharon worked for Frito-Lay in Killingly for 30 years retiring in 2012. 
She leaves her husband of 36 years Brent Hajec of Webster; a son Adam Zoschak and his partner Sara of Dudley; a daughter Holly Zoschak and her partner Josh of Northboro, Mass.; two grandchildren Avery and Evan Zoschak; a brother Richard Werstak (Marcia) of Vernon.

Robert C. Kozub
DUDLEY — Robert “Bob” C. Kozub, 61, died Nov. 1, 2017, at home after a brief illness. 
He was born in Webster, the son of Casimir T. and Theresa A. (Jezierski) Kozub.  He was a graduate of Bartlett High School, Class of 1974, earned an associate’s degree in respiratory therapy from Holliston Junior College in 1976, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Rhode Island College in 1981. 
Bob worked for the past 36 years as a registered nurse at UMass Memorial Medical Center in neuro/trauma ICU.  Prior to that, he worked as a respiratory therapist at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam for five years. 
He was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua in Dudley and a member of the Massachusetts Nurses Association.   He took great pride in his yard and gardens.  He enjoyed running, going to the gym, and vacationing.  
He leaves his wife of 40 years, Cheryl A. (Gasiciel) Kozub; three children, Bradley R. Kozub (Kathryn) of Grafton, Mass., Derek R. Kozub (Erin) of Solon, Ohio, and Jillian C. Kozub and her fiancé Michael F. Kane of Bellingham, Mass.; two grandchildren, Shannon and Garrett Kozub; his mother-in-law, Eva M. Gasiciel. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law in 1980, John J. Gasiciel and by his sister-in-law in 2000, Christine M. Gasiciel.

Kathryn Leveille
WOODSTOCK VALLEY — Kathryn Q. (Quinn) Leveille, 67, died Oct. 29, 2017.  
She was born in Hartford, daughter of the late Thomas and Ellen (Conway) Quinn and lived in Woodstock, prior to that living in Thompson.  She was a social worker doing counseling.  Kathryn was a member of St. Mary Church choir in Putnam and the Putnam Singing Ministry.
She leaves two sons, Peter Leveille of Wellesley, Mass., and Adam Leveille (Cheryl) of Woodstock Valley; two grandchildren, Mckenzie and Bradley Leveille; two brothers, James and Thomas Quinn of Connecticut.
There will be a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Nov. 11 in St. Mary of the Visitation Church, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery.  Donations: Charity of donor’s choice.  Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, Webster.
