Williams commits to Fairfield
PUTNAM — Antione Williams, a standout on the Putnam Science Academy (PSA) Prep boys’ basketball team, has committed to Fairfield University, a decision he credits to both his family and the school’s atmosphere.
“My family and really seeing that it was the best place for me and my personality, it also felt like home and it’s close to home,” Williams said, highlighting the personal connection that led him to choose Fairfield.
Williams has been a key figure at PSA, known for his dynamic skill set and leadership on the court. His time at PSA has been instrumental in shaping him into a college-ready player. “It’s prepared me for college because I’m playing against college-ready players and competition, so when I get to college, I’ll already know how to play against big and better defenders. Also, finding out how to score in creative ways,” he said.
As Williams looks ahead to his college career, his goals are ambitious. “I want to do well my first year and either move up to a bigger conference or stay and hopefully win a championship,” he said. His determination and focus on growth, both individually and as part of a team, reflect his strong drive to succeed.
Transitioning to the college game, Williams is most excited about the opportunity to make his mark at Fairfield. “I’m excited to play like myself and bring my mindset and skill set to the team,” he said. Williams also emphasized the importance of leadership and building team chemistry, saying, “Being able to give great leadership and be the person I am on and off the court, keeping good connections so the team can have a great bond and come close together.”
