Prep soccer team on winning streak
PUTNAM — The Putnam Science Academy Prep Soccer team won their games while the Varsity Soccer team took a loss.
Prep Soccer: The Prep team has been on a winning streak, improving its record with back-to-back victories. Oct. 23, they defeated Hoosac 4-2 in an impressive match. Pedro Rosa set the pace, scoring the first goal in the first half. In the second half, Gian Filizzola added a goal with 13 minutes left, Pedro scored again at the 77th minute, and Filizzola capped off the game with another goal at the 81st minute.
The momentum continued on Oct. 27 with a 4-3 win over Northwood. Renan Mafra opened the scoring nine minutes into the first half, though Northwood managed to tie it up with 27 minutes left in the half. Rosa and Renan Mafra each scored two goals in this high-energy game, helping the team secure another strong win.
Varsity Soccer: The Varsity team had a challenging game against Hoosac, narrowly losing 2-1. Hoosac scored in the final 20 seconds of the first half, putting the team in a tight position. Tanaka Makechemu responded with a goal for PSA, but ultimately, the Varsity team couldn’t close the gap.
