PBA turkey drive raises almost $9,000
PUTNAM — In a first a virtual golf tournament “scored” a significant amount of funds for the annual Putnam Business Association Turkey Drive.
Earl Rosebrooks, one of the committee leaders, said a total of $8,770 was raised — more than last year. This year, in addition to soliciting members of the association and the public and collection events, the association added a virtual golf tournament at Patty B’s Golf Shack, LLC. The tournament raised $3,600.
“The golf tournament made the difference,” Rosebrooks said. The winners of the tournament all turned their prize winnings back to the turkey drive.
First place was Team Smith; second, Team Plouffe; third, Team Rosebrooks.
Serving with Rosebrooks on the committee were Patrick O’Brien, Jason Verraneault and Andrew Morrison.
The drive benefited Daily Bread. All the money raised will be spent at Putnam Supermarket to help fill the shelves at Daily Bread. According to President of Daily Bread Karen Osbrey, the funds are used throughout the year to add fresh food to the Daily Bread offerings.
