WOODSTOCK --- Shawn Campbell, a post-graduate at the Hyde School, was awarded and accepted a full scholarship to attend the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in the fall for Division I Football.
Campbell is the son of Victoria Cruse of Hartford.
“I had the privilege of being with Shawn and his mother when UMASS head coach Kevin Morris offered him the scholarship,” said Sean Saucier, director of athletics at Hyde School. “It was awesome to see him receive this honor. Shawn is a class act, and the coaches have been really impressed by him.”
As part of the NCAA´s National Signing Day, Campbell signed a National Letter of Intent and Scholarship Agreement Feb. 3 at the Hyde School Cultural Center Theater.
UMass is part of the NCAA Football Championship Series (FCS), formerly known as Division IAA, and competes in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). The CAA is widely regarded as the toughest FCS conference in the country.
