PUTNAM --- Fire officials believe that the cause of a fire March 26 on Grove Street was electrical wiring in an interior partition on the first floor.
Firefighters from the Putnam Fire Department and the East Putnam Fire Department responded to a fire at 87 Grove St., home of the John and Christine Daviau family.
Putnam Fire Marshal Norm Perron said if it were not for the quick action of firefighters, the Victorian style home may have lost its roof. It took firefighters about two hours to bring the fire under control. There was no one home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries to firefighters.
Perron said that the fight was under the direction of Assistant Fire Chief Bob Campbell. Perron estimated that the damage to the home will be in excess of $100,000.
