Doris A. Gagnon,

POMFRET — Doris A. Gagnon, 79, of Hickey Road, died April 4, 2010 (Easter) at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. She was the wife of James H. Gagnon. They were married April 2, 1951 in Westbrook, Maine.
She was born March 5, 1931 in Westbrook, daughter of the late Armand and Martha (Arseneault) Beaudette. Doris was a graduate of Westbrook High School Class of 1949  and attended Gorham State Teachers College. She received her bachelor’s degree in 1970 from Eastern CT State College in Willimantic and later her master’s in education. She was a dedicated second and third grade teacher from 1970 to 1995 at the Killingly Memorial School in Danielson. Doris was a member of the Killingly Education Association, Connecticut Education Association, National Education Association, Woodstock Agricultural Society, and Day Kimball Hospital Women’s Board and served as membership chairman. After retiring she volunteered at the Northeast Learning Center in Danielson and at Roseland Cottage in Woodstock. In her youth she played the violin and recently pursued fiddling on her violin. She enjoyed scrapbooking for her family. 
She leaves her husband James, her sons Steven J. Gagnon and his wife Rose Palazzo-Gagnon of Woodstock, Michael T. Gagnon and his wife Robbi Correa, of Palatka, Fla., David A. Gagnon (Lydia) of Putnam; six grandchildren, Casey, Stacy, Kim, Danielle, Derik, Nathan and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Armand J. Beaudette Jr.

Francis Bousquet Jr.

PUTNAM — Francis W. Bousquet Jr., 74, of Ballou Street, died March 29, 2010, surrounded by his family at Day Kimball Hospital.  He was the husband of the late Helen (Poore) Bousquet.  Born in 1935 in Putnam, he was the son of the late Francis and Adelina (Allard) Bousquet Sr.
A veteran of the Korean war, Frank served his country in the U.S. Air Force followed by a career at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft.  Frank later graduated from the Reese Auction School, Mason City, Iowa, receiving the honorable title of “Colone.l.  Besides his love of his wife and children, Mr. Bousquet enjoyed searching for the “ultimate treasure.”  Swapping, bargaining, and bartering for the perfect and unique artifact.
He leaves his sons, Michael Bousquet of Worcester, Charles Bousquet and his wife Kathy of Woodstock, Terry Bousquet of Webster, and Jason Bousquet and his wife Ann of Scotland; his daughter, Sandra Chesanek of Putnam; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his great-granddaughter, Elisabeth Jarvis.
The Mass of Christian Burial was April 6 in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, Putnam, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam.

William V. Swanson,

WOODSTOCK — William V. Swanson, 81, of Castle Rock Road, died  March 29, 2010, in Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam.  He was the husband of Donna (Castner) Swanson.  Born in 1929 in Putnam, he was the son of the late Vernon and Mae (Carroll) Swanson.
Mr. Swanson was a self-employed dairy farmer for 40 years.  He enjoyed fly fishing.
He leaves nieces, nephews, and cousins, including John and Kathy Blackmore.

Lillian Thomas,

STURBRIDGE, Mass. — Lillian Thomas, 88, formerly of Podunk Road, died Saturday March 27, 2010.  She was the wife of the late Herbert Thomas.  Born in 1922 in Springfield, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Eva Dempsey.
Mrs. Thomas owned and operated Herbie’s Roast Beef in Sturbridge until her retirement.  She liked to sew and make crafts.
She leaves her sons, Paul Thomas of Chester, Vt.,  John Thomas and Raymond Thomas of Comfort, W.Va.; daughters, Rose Lombardi and Vera Thomas of Florida, Eve LaFleche of Putnam, and Lillian Hesselman of Willimantic; 27 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren; and her dear friend, Anna Fruggiero.  She was predeceased by her sons, Herbert Thomas Jr. and William Thomas.
The Funeral Service was April 1 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam with burial in St. Anne Cemetery, Sturbridge.

Jeanette Laurion,

PUTNAM — Jeanette I. Laurion, 93, of Eden Street, Putnam, died April 1, 2010, in Putnam, after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 28, 1916, in Putnam, daughter of the late Alfred and Evelyn (Tetreault) Robitaille. She was the wife of the late Ovila Joseph Laurion from 1941 until his death in 1994.
A 1934 graduate of Putnam High School and a communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation, she owned and operated Laurion Cleaners with her husband for over 35 years.  During WW II, she was the assistant postmaster at the Putnam Post Office.  She was a 28-year volunteer for the American Red Cross and for six years was director of the Northeast CT Chapter, retiring in 1992.  As a charter member of the Aspinock Historical Society, she served on the Archives Committee. Most recently she researched lost Putnam veterans to be added to the Putnam Memorial Plaque and the WW II Memorial in Washington, DC. She enjoyed 56 summers at Alexander’s Lake in Dayville, and was a member of the Lake Yacht Club. 
She leaves her daughters: Nanette Laurion of Sanibel, Fla., Ann Laurion and her husband Michael Nalewajk of Danielson; a grandson Marc Fournier (Ona) of Yardley, Penn. and a great-granddaughter, Paulina. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Matthew Marciano, husband of Nanette

Beverly J. Perry,

PUTNAM — Beverly J. Perry, 71, formerly of Bolles Street, died March 30, 2010. She is predeceased by her husband of 51 years J. Donald (Don) Perry. She was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1938, in Putnam,  daughter to the late Anthony and Catherine (Terwilleger) Campbell. Bev was raised in Wauregan and was a 1956 graduate of Plainfield High School. After marrying she made her home in Putnam and most recently she lived at Woodlake in Tolland. She worked for over 35 years for Day Kimball Hospital as a nursing assistant and the WIC program retiring in 2002. For many years she served as a Red Cross swimming instructor which allowed her to pass on her love and passion for swimming to families in northeastern CT. Bev also was an active member in the Grange, a volunteer in Scouting and a proud member of the Putnam Congregational Church. Bev also enjoyed baking, cake decorating, and square dancing which was where she first met Don. She enjoyed listening to classical music, researching her Scottish lineage
She leaves her children: Gerard A. (Cecile) Perry of Danielson, Sara J. (James) Martin of Ashford, John A. (Patricia) Perry of Putnam, David D. Robert L. Weaver,

N. GROSVENORDALE — Robert L. Weaver, 86, of Fabyan Road, formerly of Brooklyn, died March 30, 2010, at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam after a brief illness. He was the husband of Florina (De Villez) Weaver. They were married Aug. 12, 1944, in St. James Church.
He was born Aug. 12, 1923, in Dayville, son of the late Daniel and Helen (Lehrer) Weaver. He had made his home on Bailey Street in Brooklyn for many years, moving to N. Grosvenordale 3 1/2 years ago. He was a graduate of the Killingly High School, after graduating he delivered milk for Deary Brothers, he then became employed  by the Brooklyn school system, he worked as head custodian for over 28 years, retiring in 1995. He also worked for American Thread in Willimantic. He was a communicant of St. James Church in Danielson. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Brooklyn Country Club, he also enjoyed woodworking.
He leaves his wife of 65 years, Florina; daughters: Jo-Anne Bryer (Douglas) of N. Grosvenordale, Diane Sorel (Raymond) of Dayville;  a brother, Richard Weaver of Dayville; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandson. He was predeceased by a brother Lawrence Weaver.

Roland Gendron,

WEBSTER --- Webster- Roland P. Gendron, 85 died March 23, 2010,  in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge after a brief illness. His wife of 49 years, Bernice (Rogers) Gendron died in 2006.
He was born in Webster, the son of the late Philias and  Emma (Canavan) Gendron.  He served in the Navy during WWII as a Pharmacist’s Mate . Mr. Gendron Graduated from Boston College with his master's and PhD .  He enjoyed a  teaching career for the City of Boston for 25 years. He lived many years in Milton and retired to Woodstock.  Roland and Bernice  moved to Webster Manor in 2000.
He leaves his caregiver, Ann Gendron of Danielson; cousins and their families.
His  Funeral Mass was March 26 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Webster, with burial in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Webster.  Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, Dudley.

Nancy Dodd
PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. --- Nancy Joan Spohn Dodd, 71, died  March 16, 2010, at home after a battle with cancer. It was her 38th wedding anniversary.   She was born in Schenectady, N.Y., to the late Hugh Spohn and Gladys (Shorey) Spohn.
She lived in Williamstown, Mass.; Canoga Park, Calif.; Great Barrington, Mass., Dennisport, Cape Cod, Canaan, N.Y., Woodstock, Lake Worth, Fla., W. Palm Beach, Fla., Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., North Ridge, Calif., Alpharetta, Ga., before moving to Peachtree City in 1995.
She received a bachelor's in fine arts after    attending the University of Michigan and New England College. Nancy enjoyed a 34-year career in banking and the credit union industry as a loan officer and mortgage officer in Cape Cod, Woodstock, Lake Worth, Jupiter and Ft Lauderdale, and Los Angeles.
She leaves her husband Richard Dodd; six children, 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. "Her" children are:    Christopher Schimmel of Agoura Hills, Calif., and Jeffrey Schimmel of Bedford, N.H. Their "ours" child is Cynthia Marie Daley of Fountain Valley, Calif. 
She donated her remains for scientific research. A Memorial Church Service will be April 10 in Agoura Hills, Calif.

Ernest Busha Jr.

WEBSTER —  Ernest W. Busha Jr., 77,  of Golden Heights, died March 28, 2010, at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. His wife Marcella ( Laflamme) Busha died Dec. 15, 2009.
He was born in Worcester son of the late Ernest W. and Elizabeth A. (Carl) Busha Sr. He was in the U.S. Army and served in Korea as a combat infrantrymen.  He was retired from Gould and Eberhardt where he was a machinist. He was a member of the Booster AC, Webster-Dudley American Legion, Past Commander of the VFW Post 10088 in Quinebaug and the Combat infantrymen's Assoc.
 He leaves three daughters, Linda Dutcher and her husband Paul of Fort Bragg, Gloria Audet and her husband James, Norma Connors and her husband Thomas, all of Thompson; one brother, Raymond Busha of Webster; a sister, Patricia Riccardo of Webster; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased a brother Edward Busha and two sisters, Marcella Russo and Thelma Bourassa.
The Funeral Mass was March 31, in St. Louis Church, Webster with burial with military honors in Mount Zion Cemetery, Webster.  Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, Webster.
