DAYVILLE --- The fountain of youth might be a mythical legend; however breaking the century mark was a recently achieved milestone for Westview Health Care Center resident Margarethe Johnson.
On  April, 23 Miss. Johnson reached centenarian status and was presented by the Westview administration with an official statement from Governor M. Jodi Rell congratulating her on the occasion of her 100th birthday and hereby proclaiming April 23rd 2010 Margarethe Johnson day in the State of Connecticut.
Johnson credits her long and healthy life to her strong belief in Jesus Christ. Based on age alone she has met criteria and attained membership status in the fastest-growing segment of society — centenarians, or people 100 years old and above. This club is increasing in number because more Americans are living longer than previous generations due to daily advances in medicine and health care offerings.
Miss Johnson celebrated this special milestone for two days- one small party on her birthday with cake and friends at her residence and one large party held at The Golden Greek Restaurant on the following Saturday where family as far as New Hampshire and across the state of Connecticut traveled to observe this momentous occasion.
