Golfers raise $6600
PUTNAM --- The first annual Knight of Columbus Cargill Council 64 golf tournament raised more than $6,600 for KofC charities, according to Gerry Vaillant, chairman.
"The tournament was a huge success," he said. Twenty teams took part with the team from U.S. Button, which included Jim Sikierski, Chris Markiewic, B. Elliot and C. Spath edging out Scott Johndrow, Jeff Child, Richard Johndrow and Buzza Lavallee.
U.S. Button won matching cards at 13 under par at Connecticut National Golf Club in Putnam.
Third went to the team of Mark Jones, John Lesniewski, Doug Valentine and Gerry Vaillant at 12 under.
Closest to pins were awarded to Gator Gagnon at 14, Chris Markiewic on 7, John Swidrak on 9, Randy Joly on 11 and Mike Riley on 15.
Closest to the line on 16 went to Steve Brownell.
Vaillant said, "A special thank you goes out to Connecticut National, all tournament sponsors, volunteers, players and all who helped organize this year's outing."
